I'm looking to run a Battlelords game here on FG. It is a fairly obscure, military scifi, D100 based game with fairly chunky rules. I'm wondering what ruleset would be best to play it on FG. I'm considering using the CoreRPG ruleset and just have a very basic character sheet, with the more detailed and complex sheets on PDF images. Any ideas or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Also, would there be anyone interested in playing this?

Depending on the day, I'd certainly be interested in this. Some of my fondest gaming memories are of GDW's 2300 A.D. and fighting Kafer!

I am totally flexible on the day. My only caveat would be playing on alternating days of the week as I work shiftwork.

Hi Bane Root look up the MoreCore extension. It adds some nice extra features to combat tracker and PC/NPC sheets. Not a whole lot but the features it adds are very useful.
There is a thread where people have uploaded Chars in XML form for CoreRPG and CoreRPG+MoreCore which will give you some ideas as to how to build your sheets for your game.

Thanks damned. I'll definitely use the MoreCore extension. The character sheet for Battlelords is four pages long and a bit unwieldy and sadly I don't have the technical skills to convert it to XML and build a character sheet for FG. What I'll most likely end up doing is using the existing character sheet options with the MoreCore extension and use it as a sort of character sheet overview, with the bulky, chunky character sheets and book-keeping maintained off FG.

Anyone interested in playing Battlelords of the 23rd Century, I am currently playing a BL23C game (not on FG), but one of our players will be moving away and we are going to continue to play with him over FG. Toward that, we could also easily add players, so if anyone wants to join us please feel free to post here or send me a PM.

Looks interesting and different, not sure from your calendar entry (a) is this a one-shot or a multi-session campaign, and (b) what time and day of week are you wanting to run this? All that would have to be known before I could say for sure I can play, or sign up on the calendar. But if it fit my schedule I would like to give it a try.
I have no knowledge of the system and have not played a Sci-Fi RPG since original Traveler 40-odd years ago. But I love the genre and the description sounds interesting.

Okay, I am applying on the calendar to play this, it sounds like I would enjoy it greatly, just need to note I have schedule constraints weekdays and also some other campaigns I am in, but I am in your time zone and would like to play in this if the schedule works out.
Thanks.

I am flexible with the days and times played, the only this being that they have to alternate (ie Tuesday night one week, Wednesday the other) due to my shift-work schedule. At first I plan on running half a dozen one shot adventures with Pre-generated characters to allow new players to get a feeling for the system and setting. Character generation is fairly complicated and long, so this will allow us to jump right into the game. I'm looking at a mid-February start.

I'm certainly up for a pre-gen one-shot with this if it could be on a Tuesday. I am in another campaign that is supposed to start soon and run Wednesdays from 7pm-? in GMT-5. I have other days free depending which two days you decide to run the game. But I'd be happy to have a chance to one-shot this even if I couldn't be in the final campaign, though I'd like that too, if you have room in it when the time comes.

I picked up the pdf's for this from the SSDC website. The newbie pack at 20% off looked too good to pass up.

Awesome! As I said, the system is a little chunky, but has a level of realism that is really fun. All the books are filled with great art. I'm super pumped about running this game! It's going to be great. Last night I started creating the pre-gen characters for the series of one shot adventures I'm going to run before starting into a regular campaign. If you want to make a character to play in the one-shots, we will be using characters with 100,000exp and 250,000Cr worth of gear. Feel free to post any questions you might have and I'll do my best to answer them. Just a heads up, I will be on vacation until the 8th of February, but will try and respond when able.

I'd love to play this as well! I know that I have games on every other Tuesday and Wednesday, so which days this campaign starts on will be the deciding factor for me!

Great!
Tuesday/Wednesday was just a suggestion. I'm flexible for the day we play.

-Maximuss Power McGilicutty : Orion Rogue, Urban combat specialistFrom my first look through the pdf's I thought my character plans would lean in this direction. I will have a look the next week or so at character creation in the pdf's and see how I'd like to generate something like this guy.

-Urgh : Ram Python, Heavy weaponsSo... I really hope we have a Ram Python in the merc co, even if he's an NPC. That seems like a wild time.

I've got the 3rd version of the main book. Will this be OK? If not, I can grab the latest version of it without issue.

If we don't have a player make a Ram I will have one as an NPC. They're necessary to encompass the full comedic violence of the game... If you want to make a character and play him in the one shots, I'm totally fine with that by the way. Just PM me your email and I'll send you the excel character sheet for you to make him/her on.
