Why not make coins an item and give them a weight
About 0.02 pounds / coin (I know different coins could weigh different but for the sake of simplicity)

2050 Coins,Copper 41 pounds
567 Coins, Silver 11.34 pounds
55 Coins, Gold 1.1 pounds
5 Coins, Platinum 0.1 Pounds

=53.5 Pounds of Coins!!!
(I cause Coins,[Type] just so FG Inventory groups them alphabetically together)

Now the players are gonna have to make the Tough Choices when standing in front of the loot chest!!!!

BAWHAHAHAA

Thanks to BASTARD! DMing.....Thats ME!

Yeah, there's nothing like messing with the minds of your Players.

On a similar note, have you seen this (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?25610-Coin-Size-amp-Mass-Results-amp-Recommendations-From-An-Investigation)?

Cheers

Yeah, coin encumbrance is often neglected.

Pay them in coppers. :P

Is there any way that an extension could do this?

Porters (https://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ultimateEquipment/gear/lodgingAndServices.html#hireling), cheaper than leaving coin treasure behind.
