I ran across this free game on Steam that spoofs the old TSR modules and is amusing. The price is right, it's got single player, co op play, multiplayer and all the classic D&D tropes. It basically plays like Hero Quest and similar games and is a fun little time waster. You can find it here on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/293260/

Enjoy! :)

Yeah... and it totally rubs it in your face, that SPEND MONEY SPEND MONEY SPEND MONEY... is the way to go. Or the game will withhold rewards and so on. At least that was how it was when it started. I got disgusted with it very fast. Maybe they changed it, but somehow I doubt it. Its not worth 5 mins of finding out. Greed in gaming is getting disgusting, if you ask me. Its almost impossible to buy a full finished game that works nowadays. Games are no longer just games. They are "services" made to milk you. And It was so blatantly obvious when Card Hunter first came out, that that was what it wanted of me. A constant stream of money.

I will not recommend it. But the spoof theme is quite something, I will grant them that.

Doesn't seem like that now in the Steam version. I didn't feel any need to buy anything and I've got 40+ hours but they did just release on Steam. I understand they were a browser game first and came out in 2013. Is that when you first saw them?

Yep. It was a browser game. If they've taken out the macrotransactions it will be a different beast I am sure.
