Hi,

I have a barbarian PC and I want to use the Rage effect, but either something is seriously wrong here or I am very confused.
Here's what I did - I created a Barbarian character. I opened up the PHB Deluxe and went to the Barbarian class and in the description is a link to Rage. So far, so good. So I dragged the little dragon icon from Rage onto the Actions tab of my character sheet.

But this shows up with a single effect: "Unconscious" for 0 rounds.
How do I get a rage effect that applies the damage bonus, damage resistance, and save bonuses to my character?
And why does the built-in rage effect apply "unconscious" to my character? Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?

That link takes me to a blank search page. Is that your idea of being a wiseass and telling me to Google it? :)

Try here: Rage (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?26650-Rage)

I don't know why the drag'n'drop isn't implemented for rage and other features, but this solution works fine. :)

Lol, no, it just didn't share the search results for some reason. Sorry.

Although a very great deal of the 5e ruleset works by dragging and dropping into the character sheet not everything does. What happens when you drag something into the Actions tab is that FG tries to make sense of the words and if it finds words or phrases that it recognises then in 'parses' the wording into an effect that FG can use. So, for example, if it sees a word such as poisoned or unconscious it creates an effect called 'poisoned' or 'unconscious'. Sometimes, there is a misfire and Rage would be one of those since it recognises 'unconscious' but there isn't any reason why we would need an effect such as that for Rage.

Whilst the built in parsing system is very sophisticated and it picks up somewhere around 85% or more (I'm guessing here but it can't be far away from that figure) of what the player (or DM) would like to have on the Action tab for automation purposes it isn't completely infallible and some things just don't get picked up. Quite a few abilities such as Rage don't. So the only solution is to learn how to utilise the extensive effects system built into FG. I would recommend that you have a read through the Wiki articles on character creation (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/5E_Character_Sheet) and on effects (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/5E_Effects). There is a learning curve but once you have mastered effects the rewards are substantial.

Thanks very much for all the info. I've been doing a ton of reading about effects - very cool stuff.

But I have a follow-up question. Can I make an effect that causes ability score reduction? I see lots of effects listed in the Wiki where the Abillity score is used as a modifier. But what I want is an effect that actually modifies an ability score, like a strength drain or a loss of Dex from a crippling injury or something like that.

Now that I think about it, I realize that this would actually be quite complicated. A reduction in CON, for example, would affect a character's hit points, so I suspect this isn't currently supported. But I am hoping I am wrong. :)

Yes, this is fully supported. Just use (say) STR: -2 to reduced STR by 2 points.

Nah. Too obvious. That's just what they'd be expecting me to do. :-P
Thanks.
