Hi, :)

I'm kinda new to FG, and I'm trying to create some new monsters. They are actually evil monks.
I've created a few monsters already from existing monsters converted from older versions of D&D. I just filled in the new NPC form.

But I can't find any documentation or tutorials on this form and it's not really clear to me what values a lot of these fields accepts. For example, does "Type" matter, or is it just a description?

What should I put into Saving throws to make it work? Do I have to type in a list of stats? Should they be comma-delimited? Does it matter? Does FG use this information in way?

What about actions? What is the correct syntax for creating actions that will work for the encounter?

Does anyone know of any docs, tutorials, or other resources? Or do I just have to figure it out on my own using Monsters from the Monster Manual as examples?

Thanks.

Aren't there some high level NPCs in the MM to use as an example?

If there are, I can't find them. :)

Some info in the 5E user guide in the Wiki: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/5E_NPC_Sheet#Create_a_new_NPC

And earlier on the same page: "The NPC sheet duplicates the standard layout of any NPC from the Monster Manual." So, as JohnD says, refer to entries in the MM as examples.

For type, size and alignment that is used by FG in conditional effects, see the syntax that is listed for each under the table here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/5E_Effects#Conditional_Operators

These resources should also help:

If you have the Monster Pack open up the Thug, Acolyte, Veteran, Priest and Mage. In addition look at the Githzerai Monk. These are good building blocks for NPCs. For a monk depending on level either the thug, gith monk, or veteran could be a good starting point.

And in case you werent aware - drag from MM into NPCs window and then you can edit them there. You can then drag the new one into a blank spot to duplicate it. And finally - export them as a .mod for use in other campaigns you run.
