Hi there,

For some time now I've been drawing, painting and sharing battle maps. They've been well received on Reddit, and a few folks there suggested I pop by here as well. So, hello!

They're all downloadable on 2minutetabletop.com (https://2minutetabletop.com/index.php/shop/). Here's a free 10 pack sample (https://2minutetabletop.com/index.php/product-category/free/) I recommend.

If you actually open the PDF, you'll see that there are layers for various grids to put over the map. What you're seeing in the preview are all of the grids displaying at once. :-D

I'm glad you all like them!

I just finished up a schooner, but it's for my own campaign and I'm only going to share it once my players have experienced the surprise. Since I know none of them frequent this forum, here's a preview at least:

I'll post a download link on Monday.

Really? I don't understand why, because you have to lay down a grid to get distance measurements anyway. Is there a poll somewhere or something?

Rushmik
November 21st, 2015, 17:19
The PDFs are intended for printing, so they come with optional square and hex grids. If you're using FG you'll be using the JPGs / PNGs instead, which are gridless.

That said, some of my old stuff has semi-visible grids left over from the grid paper I used to draw on. You may be seeing that, depending on the map.

Rushmik. Thank you bunches for the maps. The whole question about the grid is sort of a running joke. Didn't mean to diminish your efforts.

Thanks for the compliments everyone! I'm sure they'll help me get this year off to a great start.

These are great, any plans to combine them into a larger map pack for a small discount?

I recently ran a "Dungeon Master Gift Pack" for most of December which were all the pre-December maps at half price, and I'll probably do a similar thing for next Christmas. Another option is to (incoming shameless plug) support me on Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/2minutetabletop?ty=h), as I make sure Patrons get extra value for their consistent pledges.

I'm sure I'll run other deals as I go along, but I haven't planned that far ahead yet. :) I always announce them on Twitter (https://twitter.com/2minutetabletop)/Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/2minutetabletop)/Google+ (https://plus.google.com/+2minutetabletop) though, if you want warning.

May i ask how many hours you usally work on such a map? And could you put a grid over it, i just wonder how big you intend the map to actually be.

leozelig
January 6th, 2016, 11:42
So, the walls of ice are lingering from the wizard's spell? That is awesome! I'm curious about how long these take also - you seem to crank them out pretty regularly.

May i ask how many hours you usally work on such a map? And could you put a grid over it, i just wonder how big you intend the map to actually be.

Each one of them comes with a PDF with hex and square grids you can toggle. The download page has a preview, for example:

https://i1.wp.com/2minutetabletop.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Icy-Battle-Site-1.jpg

You can use that as a guide for FG, but I imagine you can scale them as big or small as personally feels right. The printed versions are 16x23 when printed as intended, so 80x115 feet? I usually have a whiteboard / empty space surrounding them so I can add details as entities move outside the map's boundaries. The maps themselves I describe as "focal points" or "set pieces" but no one likes invisible walls!

So, the walls of ice are lingering from the wizard's spell? That is awesome! I'm curious about how long these take also - you seem to crank them out pretty regularly.

The schedule I try to stick to is a one hour sketch, one hour inking, and two hours painting. I usually go way over on painting though, and the upload and sharing process takes a good hour too... About six hours on average, and I aim for 1-3 per week according to my Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/2minutetabletop?ty=h) schedule. 1-2 is rather normal for me. :)

Ah thanks alot. I was wondering about the artistic choice of size more then the playable. Now that i see the grid it helps me visual it alot better, thanks for putting in the additional work but i guess other people might get some mileage out of that picture too.

Oh! On that note, it's simply because it's economical for me to draw and scan on the paper I have with the scanner I have. I'm woefully unartistic, I just have plenty of doodling practice from my days at school!

"Mind your step in the damp tunnels of today's battle map!"

I'm doing a little bit of a return to form with this one. In my early maps I aimed for an almost washed out, watercolor vibe. I have slowly got more and more vibrant, perhaps to a fault. I'm dialing it back a smidge, and I think this map represents a good midway point. What do you all think?

These are really beautiful maps. I GM Call of Cthulhu, and many of these are generic enough to be used with CoC. I was already inspired by the maps for some adventure ideas, so I'll definitely buy some in the near future. Nevertheless, would like to see some maps set in the 1920s, or perhaps WWII as we'll start Acthung! Cthulhu soon.

Just this week I've been working on a space station, so I'm certainly branching out. The Battlefield 1 trailer has really got me pumped for some more modern maps - perhaps a series of trenches? Either way, I'm sure we'll see some eventually.

Aaand here's today's Fungiwood:

This week I delved into two new things: sci-fi and regional maps. I plan to use what I learnt in a more traditional fantasy town map very soon!

I have another installment for the Cavern today, the Waterfall. There's also a bloody altar, a divine warhammer and a secret tunnel for adventurous players to find!
