Description: The mountains to the west have always been imposing, formidable, the edge of the “civilized” lands of the Central Flanaess, a vast natural border running north-south for hundreds of miles. Guarding that border are a number of territories that defend the interior lands from the marauding humanoids, giants, and other untold horrors that would otherwise rampage undeterred, inflicting death and destruction upon the known world.

One of the oldest of these territories is the Grand Duchy of Geoff, lying to the east of the point where the Barrier Peaks and the Crystalmist Mountains meet. It is this comparatively small region that has attracted a great deal of attention as of late. Not only have the incursions of creatures from the mountains been increasing in frequency, but there have been disturbing reports of attacks by the normally subterranean drow as well. An entire town is said to have been laid low, most of its population either killed or carried off and likely enslaved, and there was even an organized assault upon a smaller, fortified outpost as well.

Tales relate that the sylvan elves of the Hornwood maintain their alliance with the Duchy and do their best to lend aid and support, but they too have found themselves under attack and fight for their own homes deep in the woodlands. Even the disparate dwarven holds in the northwest have banded together in defense of the frequent assaults upon their holds from both above and below ground.

The Grand Duke now struggles to secure and maintain his ancestral lands from these encroaching threats. Many of his people have all but abandoned the lands closest to the mountains, migrating eastward to the relative safety of the larger towns and cities, while adventurers, mercenaries, and sellswords attempt to take advantage of the situation and seek their fame and fortune in a region that is quickly becoming very unstable.

This sounds like something Im definitely interested in. I haven't spent any time in the Greyhawk setting so I'd be relatively new there but I have 5 years of experience.

Will probably want to play either a Sorceror or a Monk. Just kinda depends on what everyone else is playing.

What's your projected start date? I run a Saturday game every 2nd week but would love to join if you happen to be going on my 'off' weeks.

Palin O'Daul
Male Oeridian (Variant Human) Paladin of the Valorous Knight

Palin is in his mid-20s and hails from the Duchy of Ulek, having been born in a small fishing village across the Kewl River from Kewlbanks and nestled east of the Silverwood.

In his late teens Palin travelled to Cryllor in the Kingdom of Keoland and after a lengthy assessment period was accepted into the ranks of the Arch-Paladin's followers. After finishing his training, Palin has travelled NW to the Grand Duchy of Geoff at the command of his superiors in the church to offer aid to the Grand Duke on behalf of the valorous one, in his struggle to beat back the threats that encroach upon his lands.

Lanselot Tartaros born to an impoverished declining house of nobles in the lands controlled by the Gran March. As a young man he watched as his family spent and wasted what remaining wealth they have on decadence and hedonism, destroying their former identity of piety and honor with degeneracy. He forsook his family and wealth and upon hearing rumors of turbulence and danger emanating from the Grand Duchy of Geoff, he has made his way there to redeem his family name and honor and perhaps find foundations for a renewed noble line under a new liege.

Lanselot is a firm believer in hierarchy and structure but knows that the foundation of a kingdom is built on the back of the serf's and that they require a certain amount of respect and freedom to prosper. A prosperous lower class is a prosperous kingdom. Thus it also follows that, hedonism and looting from the nobility is the decay of a kingdom.

Physically a tall blonde human male his face bears an immediately noticeable scar, one of his eyes is missing from an accident during his training as young man.

Statistically Human (Variant, preferably) LN, class preferably Paladin of the Crown - if out of the question then war domain cleric of Hextor.

Arranis Galanodel hails from the depths of the Hornwood. A skilled woodsman, he spent much of his youth exploring the area of the Deor River between the towns of Clearsky and Hornwood. That was, until the giants and their orcish allies pushed in from the Crystalmists. Arranis and his family were forced to leave their homes, and spent the next year falling back east and north, trying to stay ahead of the marauding hordes. The retreat cost Arranis his father, who fell to a hill giant’s club as Arranis’s family fled from the occupying forces of Gorna. He escorted his mother to the Dim Forest, and then returned to Geoff to help reclaim the Hornwood, motivated by the loss of his father and home more than the coin that might be found.

Arranis holds the Seldarine pantheon in high regards, especially Rillifane Rallathil and Corellon Larethian. A ranger, Arranis spends much of his time in the wilderness. While not uncomfortable in the cities, he prefers the solitude of the forests, and the open plains to a lesser extent. He has joined the service of the Grand Duke as a scout for the armies that will fall upon the orcs and giants, and he relishes the thought of vengeance.

Wood Elf Ranger, NG. Outlander background.

Can you put together a quick description about your character. Sorcerer is good. If you want to go monk, it needs to stay away from any oriental flavor.

Rylan is a Half-Elven Sorcerer that his spent most of his life in the the city of Hochoch, a city in the Cantrey of Arweth. His mother, Gweneth, is a member of the Guild of Wizardry of Greyhawk. His mother never told him who his father except for the fact that he is an Elven Ranger that wonders the lands of the Grand Duchy of Geoff trying to help people as much as possible.

Growing up around his mother and the Guild, magic was simply a fact of life for him. Gweneth would attempt to help him study and to try and learn the ways of magic, but books held no interest for Rylan. He would always do the bare minimum so he could escape and mingle with the people of Enderyn, or off into the edges of the edges for the Dim Forest to be with the trees and wonder about who his father was and what he was doing. Rylan wanted to one day grow up and learn the ways of the forest like his father before him but alas that was not to be his path in life.

One day when he was about 15 he was out and about on the edge of the Dim Wood, something caught his eye. Curious of what it was he followed it deeper into the forest, when he was attacked and his body reacted. Fire exploded forth from him and incinerated the attacker. He ran home to his mother and explained what happened. She immediately knew her son was a Sorcerer and told him now that his power had manifested he would have to work hard to control it and if he worked hard enough he could eventually master.

Gweneth took Rylan to the Guild in Gorna for training. Knowing he could no longer follow in his father's footsteps, he dove into trying to master his new found powers. He spent five years in Gorna, training and becoming stronger. Now the time for training is over and Rylan is ready to face the world and attempt to honor his father's legacy.

Thanks everyone. I have sent out the invites. Pending those players accepting the invitations, the game is full. Seannachie is wanting to have a session 0 to workout backgrounds and character meshing. I will post a date on the calendar once everyone has confirmed they are in.

Thanks everyone!

I know nothing about Greyhawk.
But if any of the players decide to drop out and you need a replacement, let me know. I don't mind playing any class/race combination.
