EDIT: All seats are filled

I'm interested in running a Twilight 2000 campaign on Fantasy Grounds and would like to know if there's anybody interested in playing. The setting would be updated to 2013. I'd like to run games every other week on a weeknight evening(see below). Experience not required (nor expected).

FG License: GM has Ultimate so anyone can play (no purchase necessary ...though I encourage supporting this program)
Game System: Twilight 2000

Time Zone: Central Time USA (UTC -5)
Day of week and time: 2 time per month - A weekday evening (M-F, 8pm Central Time) *possibly a weekend period if it works for most parties involved
If new game, planned start date: Early December once character generation has been completed.
Planned Frequency: i.e. Weekly, every other week, once a month, etc.
Term: Working thru the introduction of T2K in FG. Likely long term campaign (year+)

Text or Voice: Voice
Voice software used: Teamspeak (Fantasy Grounds Server)

Roleplay & Combat mix: 25/75 Heavy Combat
Number of Players in game & needed: 4-5 players
Character starting level & equipment: New characters (character creation is time consuming in T2K)
Character restrictions: everything is subject to GM approval (and possible future retraining to keep balanced game)

Link to Gamecalendar page: Beans and Bullets (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/calendar/index.xcp?id=1684)

Once more a REMF screwed us over.

We were standing on the wooded hill south of the city of Torun overlooking the Wisla river and in the distance still standing proudly was the bridge we were ordered to destroy.

The problem was that they gave us a case of pre-war surplus C-4 and a dozen old 155 mm shells and told to work our magic. Work our magic we did... and I could just make out the 10 m crater and two broken support columns that now littered the main part of the bridge.

What I also could see was the hundreds of enemy soldiers scrambling to repair the damage in record time.

"Ummm sir!"

"Yes.. the what heck is it now?"

"Sir, don't look now but that looks like a tractor full of troops heading our way!!"

Damnit... we were Far from Home and had a long way to go.

"Get your gear and lets get out of here!!"

We marched through the new millennium with confidence. There were signs to unrest, to be sure, but few took them seriously. The great wars of the past seemed buried beneath wealthy societies that would no more threaten their neighbors than they would cut their own throats. We reasoned from our ivory towers that if only we could help the rest of the world be as affluent as we were, then peace would reign.

https://farm3.static.flickr.com/2316/2119746512_8246330165_m.jpg

What fools we were. Wars of blood and faith are part of our genetics and will never be silenced. Insults and divisions hundreds, even thousands, of years old cannot be paved over in a mere few years by democracy and prosperity.

https://farm3.static.flickr.com/2163/2119746542_283e239a24_m.jpg

The wealth turned into weapons. The democracies became dictatorships by will of the people. The need for oil, water, and fertile land pressured peoples and fractured societies. Jihad, crusade, revolution, genocide, and civil war replaced belief, trade, and debate. Barbaric weapons that were never to be used were employed indiscriminately against militaries, economies, and peoples.

https://farm3.static.flickr.com/2118/2119746604_fb4c3df960_m.jpg

After the Collapse, only one in ten lives. Civilization stands at a precipice and looks into the abyss. A few brave people are willing to fight against the coming dark age of humanity. They will stand against anarchy and push back the tide of barbarism. If there is hope, it is with the choices and sacrifices a small number of men and women will make.

The campaign puts characters in the middle of the action during the last stages of the Twilight War. The choices made by the characters have profound consequences and affect how, or even if, civilization will recover.[/QUOTE]

Right-wing political parties make advances in general elections in Western Europe on anti-immigration/nationalist platforms and anti-Muslim/eastern European sentiment increases. Summer riots in France by Muslim youth spread to other European countries and a "European Intifada" is born.

https://farm3.static.flickr.com/2023/2144225684_a515017bc5_m.jpg

Islamists win control of the secular government in Turkey and start dismantling the system. A minor civil war breaks out between the secular army and the Islamist public, but it is eventually decided in favor of the Islamist government. Turkey withdraws from NATO and drops its application for entry into the EU. However, Turkey also declares itself the “Protector of Islam in Europe”.

China claims the Spratly Islands in the South China Sea. A conflict between Chinese and US-backed Philippine naval forces is narrowly averted by mediation by the United Nations.

2009
An earthquake in China destroys the Three Gorges Dam system and flooding kills about 1 million Chinese citizens. Worse, China won’t be able to meet its energy needs without some new outside source. The Central Committee executes the designers of the dam in a show trial and begins to make preparations to acquire oil from its western neighbors. It enters into an alliance with Iran, Pakistan, and Myanmar to meet these needs by dominating the Middle East and the vital Indian Ocean.

2010
Iranian-backed Shiite insurgencies appear in the major Sunni countries and begin to destabilize those nations. Crackdowns result in more conflict and dissatisfaction with leadership.

https://farm3.static.flickr.com/2143/2144225782_ac93a3903e_m.jpg

A terrorist attack in India re-ignites long-simmering Pakistan/India tensions and nuclear weapons are used by both sides on a tactical and strategic scale. Pakistan is crippled and India is badly damaged by the limited exchange.

After stirring up ethnic tensions in Kazakhstan, China invades, citing protection of ethnic Chinese. Iran invades Turkmenistan, citing similar abuses of Persian minorities. Kazakh and Turkmen forces are pushed back and request assistance from Russia, which responds and Central Asia turns into a meat grinder with Chinese/Iranian forces slowly advancing north. Chinese forces also fight their way into eastern Siberia, besieging Vladivostok.

https://farm3.static.flickr.com/2388/2143431965_780f38e579_m.jpg

2012
Against Chinese desires, the Iranian president declares himself to be the 12th Imam, a Shiite apocalyptical figure. Iran launches a nuclear attack against Israel, the major Sunni capitals, and US forces in the Middle East. Iran is annihilated in the retaliation. After the dust settles, it’s obvious that the Middle East will be providing little to no petroleum to the world soon, making other sources all the more important. Also obvious is the damage to US forces, which took heavy casualties.

https://farm3.static.flickr.com/2406/2143431913_f309fbeaea_m.jpg

As the Iranian effort falters, Russia opens a new offensive in Central Asia and Eastern Siberia. Battle lines begin to move south as Russian forces employ chemical weapons on a massive scale and Chinese supply lines falter. When Russian forces reach Chinese borders, tactical nuclear weapons are employed by the Chinese, and then by the Russians. However, the Russian drive into China is only slowed.

https://farm3.static.flickr.com/2091/2144225720_edc6649ed7_m.jpg

Russia, citing internal needs, cuts fuel deliveries to Europe. NATO nations, facing a cold winter, threaten to blockade the Baltic. Tensions increase and Russian merchant vessels are fired on by NATO naval assets. Russian forces invade NATO member Poland. The initial plan is to occupy territory to the Wisla River and then negotiate, but the NATO forces are pushed back ahead of schedule and Russian leaders decide to occupy all of Poland and establish a new set of “buffer” nations.

Turkey, citing abuse of Muslims in Hungary, Romania, and Greece, invades the Balkans and Eastern Europe. NATO forces, already reeling under Russian attacks, make a determined but futile stand.

Are you willing to teach? I have no idea what this is but I'm very interested in learning :) More then willing to teach/mentor ...be aware the character creation process is the most intensive part of T2K. Once the character creation is done the rest is fairly straight forward. It's a very enjoyable game (like most are if you like their Genre). So far myself and Espatier have both played it before years ago so we can both guide you along in the process to create kids. Catch me on Teamspeak whenever (as JerryRig) and we'll get the process started.

November 7th, 2015, 12:55
Have you nailed down a day and time yet?

JerryRig
November 7th, 2015, 20:50
Nope no nailed day's as so far only had 1 person get into making a character and discussing it but he's fairly wide open as well. Getting people to open there calender's has so far been minimal.

Is it a 1st edition game, 2nd, or the 2.2 version?

JerryRig
November 8th, 2015, 04:08
2013 rule-book is being used. I want to open up the whole building your character on your timeline and deciding where he or she joins the war. I like the simplicity of the original rules but want to make it feel a little more realistic in theme and 2013 content has room for it. I just don't want ti to become a roll-fest or a book search but rather ...the books got us to be able to make the characters, now their reference material for the rest of the game ...not binding us to have too research everything ...the game needs to roll along to enjoy it, the rules are our guidelines for giving us context and results from whatever this dream team gets itself into.

So in a nutshell it will be using the reflex dice system, the resources of the 2013 character creation tools, and from there it's all fun and for us to see where the world around us reveals as we move about (or turtle up).

GunbunnyFuFu
November 8th, 2015, 04:21
Good deal! I was active on the 2K13 forums, and haven't had much opportunity to play the system. It'll give me the chance to dust off the rulebook!

JerryRig
November 8th, 2015, 13:13
Catch me on teamspeak and we can chat and if your feeling like its going to work for you ...we'll sit down and draw up a character as well.

Ellspeth
November 9th, 2015, 11:50
Anyone considering this go for it. Jerryrig is an awesome GM, and super tolerant of PC quirks. I have enjoyed his game this past year no end, and made new friends in the group as well. Depending on the time I might apply for this, but Jerry knows I play a pretty heavy gaming schedule. But I will miss Caljaric's Traveling Menagerie and Roadshow when the current campaign winds down, nothing lasts forever, though you sometimes wish the best stuff could. With or without my playing I wish you all the best in this new one Jerry.

I would like to play. Generically speaking, I am free any night except Thursday. Weekends generally work too as long as I am not busy with the Boy Scouts. I would like to play a SF (demo specialist - 18C) if that works.
Roughly, what date are you expecting to start?

November 10th, 2015, 10:32
Well so far I have 4 players that have created characters and are saying Tuesday night will work for them in mid December and beyond so that is what were going with. I have a 5th person who has come on my server and we have discussed the making of a character, it's fit into what is going on with the group and whats going on in the world post the as the main part of the BIG WAR. Not sure If Tuesday will mesh for him though so I'll again say, first individual to sit down and complete a character with me will be on the team.

So if Tuesday nights work for you I can take 1 more player (first one to sit down and make a character and get involved in the groups plans) will have the final seat.

Players with locked in seats:

1) Ellspeth - (Soldier, Engineer, Machinist, Welder, Programmer)
2) Espater - Richard "Sawbones" Finge (Soldier, Doctor, Instructor, Survivalist)
3) Rogue - Isa "Squelch" Bonneau(Soldier, Communications, Electronics, Survivalist)
4) Vhok - Name TBD (Special Ops, Sniper, ...)
5) _______ (first to build character with me gets spot)

I'm on Fantasy Grounds Teamspeak server frequently. (connection info HERE (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?17071-Voicechat!-Community-TeamSpeak3-Server))

JerryRig
November 10th, 2015, 15:00
Likely starting around 6-7pm Central time and going to when the majority of players log out. So probably playing each night from 3-4 hours with an occasional longer run if someones wants to play but doing there own side missions or tasks to support there ambitions or that of the groups.

Bubba
November 10th, 2015, 16:38

Jerry and some of us are in a game on TS now, game should be done by 11 or so EST, Jerry is likely to be around until midnight or later in the Eastern zone if you stop by tonight he can probably give it to you when this session is done.

I have a character ready to be submitted. Tell me how you want it.

JerryRig
November 11th, 2015, 16:38
All the positions have been filled by people who got with me for the character creation. I will likely be running a 1 shot of it on a CON to get some more exposure of the game. If you hang on to your character and request to join that game we can go over the steps you took in generating it and if all is good you can use it in lieu of a pregen for the CON.

Thanks to all who showed the interest in getting a T2K game going here. Wish us luck the world needs these guys!

Hey JerryRig... someone I know on FB is looking to start an on-line game. He mentioned using Roll20 and was not looking forward to having to spend his time entering data instead of gaming... so I mentioned that at least one person is running a game using FG.

Wondering are you using a ruleset for this or going with CoreRPG or what? I'd like to pass on the information if possible to decrease the guy's search time.

Thanks.

JerryRig
January 7th, 2016, 20:09
I'm using CoreRPG for the dice (manual adjustment for modifiers) so not sure if I can help in any way with Roll20 stuff as the one time i tried to play a game there i felt like i was in caveman days trying to do stuff with my character in the tabletop.

more then happy to share what I've built in FG if he wants the character sheets and cheat sheet stuff i've built so far.

The last time I played Twilight was in 1995 in Port a Prince Haiti, while serving there in the Army.
I just purchased fantasy grounds during the steam winter sell over the holidays to play D&D but would love to play some Twilight if this game still needs players.
If the group is full would still love to just sit in and kick it with some Twilight fans.

Thanks!

Yes we do have room in the T2K game (actually using mostly the Twilight 2013 character generation method so it wont pin one down to a random dice deciding when their characters path ended and the twilight war began. Anyhow catch me on the FG teamspeak server and we can see if it is something your still interested in.
