Are you the GM and you want to run a PC as well?
Best way is to open a second instance of FG and use a different username and use the server alias of localhost and then you can play the PC in that second instance.

I suspect you are not fully understanding how FG works. When you load the program up you are not seeing a 'lobby' where you can chat to others, you are seeing the Virtual Table. In order to get people to join a game you will need to let them know you are running one - see here (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?40-LFG-Looking-for-Group-%28formerly-Guild-House%29). I'd suggest too that you might want to have a read through the Wiki (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page) for whatever ruleset you are interested in and perhaps watch a video (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Videos) or two.
