Make an effect by clicking on the little-man icon on the upper right. In the effects bar put in the following:
Rage;ADVCHK:strength;ADVSAV:strength;DMG:2, melee;RESIST:bludgeoning,slashing,piercing;[SELF]
Then change the duration to 1 min (or 10 round, whichever is fine)
Then you can drag that onto a player when he rages.
He can also set up a power in his action table, add an effect and input that same line and then he can press a button, track how many uses he has etc.

You should have a good look at the wiki (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/5E_Effects) here for how to set up effects and you might also get some benefit from this post (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?22736-5E-Effects-examples) here.

You absolutely want to set this up as a power on the character's actions tab (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/5E_Character_Sheet) rather than setting it up as a general effect.

As a power it would be with the character but as an effect i could give it to NPC's when needed. I can see uses for both. Thanks guys

I am new to FG and starting to transition my campaign over to it. I have one player that is remote from another location doing all of his combat through fg. The rest of my group rolls dice and tallies damage old school, but we use custom battle maps and fg tokens and npcs for combat. My one remote player is a barbarian and I am having a hell of a time trying to figure out how to deal with his rage. I read through the effects wiki page, I read through that effect post you linked, I have watched some tutorial videos.

Thus far I have an effect set up for rage with the following: Rage;ADVCHK:strength;ADVSAV:strength;DMG:2, melee;RESIST:bludgeoning, slashing, piercing;[SELF]. It's working great. In your post above you mentioned something about using it through powers, how do I do that?

Another question, although somewhat unrelated, I have a number of NPCs that are playable classes, ie wizard, cleric etc....Is the only way to set them up to roll a pc and them set them to hostile in the combat tracker? Creating npcs seems to be pretty limited in terms of abilities/bonuses a pc class gets.

Thanks for helping a new fg dm!

Zacchaeus,

Is there a way to use barbarian rage without setting up a general effect? If so how do I do it? Is there a way to add spells to the existing spell lists for the phb and elemental evil lists?

Thanks!

For setting up an effect on the actions tab, have a look at section 3.6 of the Character sheet wiki here (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/5E_Character_Sheet#Actions_Tab).

You can't add spells to the phb and elemental evil lists since those are locked but there's nothing to stop you creating your own spell list module. Again I'd refer you to the wiki above on how to create a new spell. Once you've created them use the export (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Library) function within FG to create your spell module.

Can you expand on this process please? I wasn't aware of there being functionality to create a spell module from within FG. AFAIK you can only create spells on the action tab of a character sheet, which isn't exported into a module.

Yeah, you got me there. Not entirely sure what I was thinking about but of course you can't do this. Apologies for the misdirection.

(Actually I was just testing to see if Trenloe was paying attention and, as usual, he was :))

Shouldn't you add maniacal laughter after that last statement? :/ ;)

So are you like the grand minister who is waiting for (or plotting for!) Trenloe to slip up so you can seize power?

So if Trenloe hadn't caught you out here, would you now be sidelining up to other forum members, arms folded in your long and luxurious red robes, whispering

yes, well Trenloe has of course served this forum faithfully for many years, perhaps its time for him to leave the rigors of the the to and fro to younger.. more..agile minds. I understand he owns a villa in the country? He deserves to rest from his labors, dont you think??

That would be really cool if you could. I like that Moon Wizard's new update allows us to include Quests finally.

Haha; It's the other way around. Trenloe is the one with the young agile mind :)
