Will Battle Grounds work for my game?

I run a 5th ed d&d game at my friends house I really would like to run this program as our battle Map. We are going to use a projector pointed down from the ceiling to the table we play on, or on a Big Screen. Can I run it just from one computer or do you need a player online too to gain the full experience of the program?
