Hello and Welcome to FG and PFS play.

Best bet is to go here https://paizo.com/pathfinderSociety and get registered if you haven't already. There are also some free downloads there that describe the organized play and some special modifications they use for Society games.

Ooh! Ooh! I wanna play ;P

Welcome to Fantasy Grounds and to the virtual table-top RPG experience. :) Fantasy Grounds is a great way to play a wide assortment of games ranging from D&D to Rolemaster to Pathfinder and beyond. It has a variety of tools that make gaming very easy to do once you have a grasp of the interface and Table-top RPG can offer you quite a bit more flexibility in what you can do with your character than MMOs can.

Pathfinder Society (PFS) specifically is something like an "Adventuring Club". You create an account at Paizo, download their Guide to Organized Play (here: https://paizo.com/pathfinderSociety/playerResources), fashion one or more characters based on those rules, and register them with Paizo. That way each character has a number they can be tracked by. Then it's just a matter of finding a game to join.

PFS Scenarios are one-shot adventures that take about 5 hours to go through. A GM will post an announced game in the "Game Announcement" thread along with links to a calendar to sign up on and a discussion thread to voice your interest, reserve a spot at the table, and to discuss character options, plans, etc. A Scenario has a level ranged associated with it; generally 1-5, 3-7, 5-9, or 7-11. As long as your character is within that range, it is legal to play in that Scenario. If you don't have the appropriate character there are legal pregens that come in 1st, 4th, and 7th level varieties that you can play instead and then apply the "credit" of the game to one of your characters.

When the Scenario is over, the GM gives you a Chronicle Sheet. This tracks your XP, Gold, and other awards that were earned on the adventure. Think of it as a certificate of completion that you keep for your records. Then when another PFS game is announced (either by the same GM or a different one), you can hop aboard that one and show that GM your Chronicle Sheet. With that, he can verify that your character has what you say it does and it gives him a baseline to generate a new Chronicle Sheet for the new adventure.

Then it's a matter of going from table to table, playing with different GMs and Players as your character - a proud agent of the Pathfinder Society - goes on various missions, earns gold and prestige, and increases in level.

Hope that helps.

Or just do as jshauber suggests. :p
