for an NPC - is it possible to creat it in the PC menu (more flexible) and drag it into an NPC area? ie in the directory. Or is it better to make a PC and just tag it so the PC"s cant see or use it?

The underlying data of a PC and NPC records is quite different, so there isn't (currently) a way to convert a PC to NPC or vice versa. You can do a lot with the NPC statblock (manual entry), but if you already have the NPC created as a PC (or need more detail in your NPC) then just use the PC records and hide it from the players.

Connect with another instance on the same computer: "Join Game", enter a unique "Username" and use a "Host Address" of localhost Then, once connected to the GM, select the (N)PC in question, this will lock it to the username you used when logging into the player instance.
