Hey everyone attempting to set up port forwarding for an upcoming game. I am currently stuck on a wireless network and while hamatchi would work great for this I don't want to force my group to download and install even more software. Is there anything I can do to get this working so I can run the game?

Modem Arris Tg1672g
Provider Time Warner Cable
OS Windows 10
Internet type: Wireless 2.4GHz

You should be able to make a DHCP reservation in your wireless router, telling it to always give your computer the same IP address when on wireless. You'd need to know the hardware address (or MAC) of your wireless adapter, then add a DHCP reservation in your router. This will make it so every time that wireless adapter requests an IP address it is given the same one.

Technically you could just assign a static IP address in the TCP/IP settings of your wireless adapter the same way you would enter a static address for your physical network--you'd just want to pick an IP address outside of the DHCP range. For example, if your router is set to hand out 192.168.1.100 through 192.168.1.200, then you could statically assign 192.168.1.201 to your wireless adapter. However I wouldn't recommend this as you'd always have to undo it if you took your machine elsewhere (so it could acquire an IP address normally on other networks) and then reconfigure it when you get back home.

What kind of router do you have?

Go to Walmart buy an ethernet cable and plug directly into your wireless router. FG over wireless as host is probably going to be stressful. :)

I use a wireless network and apart from initial problems (mainly because I had no idea what I was doing) everything works fine for me. The important thing is that you must make sure that everything between you and the internet has port 1802 forwarded. This will include your router obviously but also your firewall. You are likely also going to have to set up rules in your Anti Virus software too. Only recently did I discover that you can reserve an IP address for the computer I use for FG but it is worth doing that, so that you don't need to change the port forwarding every time the address changes for your machine, but it isn't essential.

Are you wireless between your computer and the modem/router or are you wireless between your modem/router and the big bad world? If the latter - *most* satellite and wifi providers etc dont allow you access to their routers so you cant do the port forwarding. If you want me to have a look with you send me a PM.

An Arris wired/wireless modem from TWC.

I have a modem on site if that's what you mean? Would love the help, but I am now out of time until Monday when my wife and kids go back to work/school.

Is it an Arris DG1670A like this one? https://www.amazon.com/Arris-DG1670A-Touchstone-Data-Gateway/dp/B00MI7JU72

He was wondering (as I did) if your internet connection to Time Warner was wired or wireless. Given that Time Warner is a cable company my guess was that you have a high speed cable internet connection with a wireless router, so you're connecting wirelessly to your router. Some providers offer a wireless internet connection to *them* for areas where their standard internet isn't supported (AT&T for example would offer satellite internet to their customers that couldn't get DSL/U-Verse).

Thanks for everyone's help so far! I figured out a work around last night (unfortunately port forwarding is still not working). Essentially it requires me to temporarily enable DMZ and use the internal IP I am receiving at that time with FG. This enabled my group to log in last night with only one drop. Once the game was over, I disabled DMZ and once again got the "Failure" message.

Not my favorite solution, but it works, since nothing else seems to be, not even directly connecting the the modem with a line.

When you say "port forwarding is still not working" what settings have you used? If DMZ mode works then Port Forwarding is almost definitely going to be configurable for you.
