I cast Friends at the sentient volcano and try to convince it to let us mine it for gemstones.

Kylania:

Friends? The spell that lasts 1 minute and makes him hate you afterwards?

A DM can only tolerate so much complaining about insufficient treasure and XP awards before he/she snaps.

JohnD let them find their hoard of treasure and then steal it right back from them or force them to abandon it against over whelming odds :)

I prefer a cloud giant sized gold door covered in a priceless mural made up of inlayed gemstones. "See guys, I gave you treasure! Aren't you going to thank me?" hehe

I have always made it a policy of letting my players make a wish list of magic items that they would like to acquire not counting scrolls potions and usually ammo unless very special and limit to like 5. With the understanding that these items will almost certainly have to be pried from the cold dead fingers of a future enemy that knows how to and will gleefully use it to kill them. So that tends to Meter the greed some. My current Group one player has no weapons on his list and another first asked for all cursed items. 8)

The GM givith and the GM tackith away.

All praise to the GM!

For he is mighty and worthy of praise.

(Especially if you don't want to p!ss him off)

(And believe me, you do not want to p!ss-off your GM!)

(Especially this GM - you have been warned!)
