For anybody on reddit that plays 5e, you've probably already seen these Monster A Day posts from StoneStrix (https://www.reddit.com/user/StoneStrix) in the DnD Next subreddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/dndnext/).

I took the liberty of creating a blank github repo to invite FG module developers to contribute their time in order to send some love back to this guy for all of his efforts. If you'd like to contribute, please PM me on github.

Monster A Day FG module github repo. (https://github.com/sturtus/monsteradayfg)

For those looking to download the module, you can find it here, just download the .mod file from the latest release:
https://github.com/sturtus/monsteradayfg/releases

Currently at Day 100

Author is on hiatus.

Are those mod files? Do all I need to do is drop them in my mod folder?

He's just starting it, it's mostly empty right now.

Ok, I wasnt sure. It looked amazing seeing all the excellent stat blocks and creature art and then just wasnt sure what the files were. I saw them I believe as MD files instead of MOD files and wasnt sure if those were able to work the same way

Nice work sturtus.

Based of this: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?26264-Monster-Hunting-in-DnD-5E&p=233198&viewfull=1#post233198 it's probably worth making this module token/image free.

I might just do custom tokens. That kind of work is fair game.

As long as it's all your own work or you're using material you have permission to use, then that's cool. :)

I managed to track down the issue with Ulamog not parsing, it doesnt seem to accept Colossal as an option, I changed it to Gargantuan Aberration (titan) and it parsed ok.

Looks like you may not need to make custom tokens:
https://www.reddit.com/r/dndnext/comments/3piljm/monster_a_day_tokens_tokens_for_everybody/

The person specifically grants permission for Roll 20 and other digital platforms

Wow, that is some good work right there.

It's worth noting that those tokens he has made are just token conversion of the artwork used in the Monster a Day pictures. That art IS under copyright to other sources (such as WoTC for all the MTG art) and is all used without license from the owners. Those tokens will not be able to be incorporated to the module for distribution, but could be added in manually by people if they wished.

If somebody were to make original art for every monster or manage to track down each and every artist with written consent of some kind, then... well I think it's more likely my lawn starts mowing itself.

If I find time, I may just use generic letter tokens from the FG 5e ruleset for the monsters to at least give them a token.

Don't worry about this, just leave them blank. The next release (3.1.3 currently in test) will auto add a letter token, based off the first letter of the name, if the NPC is added to the combat tracker and it doesn't have an assigned token already.

thanks for the mod! also seems like the author is back and the reddit is active again

The mod is active, and has a number of people now running their own Monster a Day series.
However the original author is no longer doing them, and with multiple people still running these series it may be a bit much to keep this going.

FWIW, the git repo is still up! If anybody wanted to contribute, it's easy to do if you know the basics of git.

I didn't know this was still active. I used to hang out on their Discord for awhile. But thought it was done with. Will have to check out what you've done recently :)

I didn't actually create any of the monsters, I just made a module because I liked the original author's efforts. The subreddit still looks relatively active, so I posted a notice about my git repo for the FG module. Maybe somebody will contribute updates! I'm too busy with parenting, career-ing, and gaming.

Which reminds me, is Par5e still a thing? I built the module with that.

It is no longer distributed or supported. But if you have it, it should probably still work. I've got it, but never used it so *shrugs*
