View Full Version : Purchased Module...but where is it?

I just purchased FG Ultimate, and I have updated the licenses so everything is up to date and running. I still see the Demo campaigns, but I am no longer running just the demo. I have purchased a small adventure in the store so I can begin to learn how FG works. I got the email showing my purchase, and I downloaded the file. It says that the file was installed on to my computer. However, I can't find it. It's not in my "Campaigns" folder, and I can't even find the file on my computer anywhere. How do I find the module I purchased, and how do I get it on to FG? Thank you.

Create a new campaign. Load that. Within the campaign, open the modules window (open the library window, and click on the modules button). Double click on the module's icon to open it (or swipe left on the "book" for the module).

Modules aren't installed as campaigns. They are installed so you can open them in any number of your own campaigns. As Andraax says, open the library and activate the module in question. More info here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Library#Module_Activation

Some links might appear in the library, but most of them will appear as new tabs at the bottom of the Story, Images & Maps, NPCs, etc. windows.

I found where the module is (in my "Users" folder), but there are no images in there to use. So I can't just open up a Map or simply drag it on to FG for view. In face there are no images at all. There's some sort of Movie file that is unreadable, and that's it. I got the email that gives me the link to download the module, but when I download it there is nothing in the module to use. I tried what both Andraax and Trenloe have said, but nothing works. By the way, I'm using Win 10 if that has anything to do with it.

Which module is this?

Dark Days in Stoneholme. I'm using this as a way to learn how to use FG.

Good module.

To confirm the steps needed:

Start a Fantasy Grounds campaign using the PFRPG ruleset. Not any other ruleset.
Once this campaign loads, go to the Library -> Modules and activate the "AaW U1: Dark Days in Stoneholme" module - the book icon should show open rather than closed.
You will see the module in the library and also additional purple coloured sword icons in Story, Images & Maps, NPCs and Items.

I'd recommend you spend some time watching some of the intro videos in the Wiki: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Videos or working your way through some of the Basic Guides section of the Wiki user guides: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/User_Guides

You need to copy it to your "modules" directory. Then you'll be able to open it as I described.

It should install to the correct location, no need to go copying it around.

He said it was in his "Users" folder, which is not the correct location.

Assuming it is the default FG data directory, it will be users\<username>\appdata\roaming\Fantasy Grounds That is what I took it to mean my the "users folder" - assuming the OP didn't want to expand and type out the full path to the file. That is the correct location for the files - unless the OP has changed the data directory location.

For some reason it's automatically going to my "Users" folder under Roaming Apps. It might be a Win10 thing. It also might be because my OS is on my C: Drive and all my programs and games are on my D: Drive. The good news is I got the module working now. The new problem is....where are the tokens? I'm messing around with it, and the videos say I can simply drag the monster on to the map, and the token will appear on the map. Unfortunately this is not working. I am really hoping I don't have to buy a bunch of tokens separately.

If the module is installed in users\<username>\appdata\roaming\Fantasy Grounds\modules then it's in the right place.

The NPCs come with pre-assigned basic letter tokens. Drag the NPC to the combat tracker first, and then drag the token from the left of the NPC onto the combat tracker.

If you want to change the tokens FG comes with some example animal, character and monster tokens, which are also installed as modules - activate these token modules through the Tokens -> Modules link. See "Module Tokens" here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Tokens#Loading_Locations

I gotta tell you guys, I'm really getting frustrated with this program. I've watched those videos, and everywhere this guy explains where to get what I need, I go to those folders and they're empty. i.e.: I don't have the rule sets, tokens, etc. All I have is the module I purchased, and I only have access to the maps. I can't pull up any Pathfinder/3.5, 4e or 5e rulesets anywhere. My "tokens" folder is empty. Basically all I can do is watch my player move his player token (that he created) on the map image. That doesn't make for a fun D&D game at all.

I think you're misunderstanding what a "ruleset" is. In FG terms, a ruleset is the base framework (character sheets, NPC sheets, combat tracker) for a specific RPG. FG comes with a number of ruleset frameworks installed, see Supported Games Systems -> Included here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

When you go to "Create New Campaign" you will see the rulesets in the "Select ruleset" column:

Now, looking at the adventure module you purchased. This has a lot more than just maps. Open the library and you'll see the following (assuming you've activated this module in a PFRPG campaign):

The adventure module in the library.
The various objects that are available in this module. Note: These are also accessible via the purple "sword" tab at the bottom of each campaign list window.
If you click on "Personalities" in the list in #2 the whole list of NPCs in the adventure will be displayed. Click on one of these to see the full NPC statblock.
If you clicked on the "Elite Temple Goblin" link in #3 the full NPC statblock for this creature appears - with rollable fields (double click on an appropriate field to roll).
If you clicked on the "story" link in #2 the story list will appear. These are the main entries for the adventure module - think of them as the text of the adventure - read each section from top to bottom in this list and you'll have basically read the adventure.
Clicking on one of the links in #5 (0.02 Adventure Synopsis in this case) will display the text of this story entry.
Encounters are specific combat encounters from the adventure. Click on the link to open the specific encounter.
This shows a basic encounter with 2 Fiendish Shadow-Rats. Click on the yellow down arrow at the bottom of this window to add them to the combat tracker. Then all you have to do is click-drag each "R" token from the combat tracker to the map and this encounter is ready to go.
The list of images and maps.
The adventure specific items

The Fantasy Grounds adventure module includes everything from the electronic/print version of the scenario: https://adventureaweek.com/adventures/u-series-adventures/ There is nothing missing and it contains all that you need to run this scenario.

Pathfinder reference library modules

Fantasy Grounds also comes with a number of Pathfinder library modules. These are activated from Library -> Modules just like you did for the adventure module: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Library

There are four modules that come with Fantasy Grounds as Standard:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/39085830/Screenshots/Fantasy%20Grounds/PFRPG/PFRPG%20Base%20Library%20Modules.jpg

Basic PFRPG rules reference.
PFRPG spells from the Core rulebook.
Bestiary 1 NPCs/Monsters.
Core rulebook magic items.

These all have to be activated/opened in the "Data Module Activation" screen (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Library#Module_Activation)to be able to see them in the library:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/39085830/Screenshots/Fantasy%20Grounds/PFRPG/PFRPG%20Base%20Library%20entries.jpg

Additionally, there are many community made Pathfinder reference modules that you can download, install in your modules directory (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Data_Files_Overview#Modules)and open in your library and use within your campaign: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?16074-List-of-Modules

Sounds like you haven't opened any tokens modules as mentioned above (post #13):

I wish I saw this earlier, because I did the tried and true tactic of uninstalling everything, and redownloading it all, but now.....I can't download the adventure I purchased. All it downloads is the Uninstall for it. Nothing else, and when I go back to my email to click on the DL link there, I get a page that says to go in to my Settings > Enter User name/PW and click Update. It updates, but still no module can be found.

So, if you follow the instructions I gave in post #7 above you don't see U1 in the library? But you see the other PF modules (shown in post #16 above)?

Ahh...I see it now. Did I mention I hate computers? Thank you for the help. I think I've got it now. I have Tokens now, along with the module. :D
