Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else, couldn't find it in search.

I like to use snap to grid but only problem is with tiny size creatures who are supposed to basically take up half a square. I can make them smaller but they still take up the whole square.

How do you deal with tiny size creatures/tokens?

It would seem that the minimum space a creature takes up on a map is 5' even if you change the size (by clicking on the Space and Reach button on the combat tracker and changing the size to a figure less than 5). I don't know of that is by design or not to be honest.

However as you say you can make the creature appear smaller by holding CTRL and moving the middle mouse button once it has been placed on the map. I'd suggest that's sufficient indication of it's size.

If you set their size (in CT) to 0 they will not fill the 5x5' square with faction colouring.
You can have them snap to any of 4 corners, 4 edges or the centre of a square - so you could have up to 9 all touching / partially in the same square.
