I can't FG to start at all, and the only mentions of this problem are from almost 10 years ago. I've been in FG games before, so I don't really know what the issue is. I would certainly appreciate some help with this. I've updated my DirectX (card is a Radeon Sapphire 6850), tried to re-install 9.0c end user runtime, etc. Still no luck.

Run dxdiag (WindowsKey+R - then type dxdiag and press return). Check on the display tab and ensure that there are no issues and that Direct3D is Enabled.

All checks out (no issues, Direct3D enabled)

Try running as Administrator. (Right-click -> Run As Administrator).
Try uninstalling FG, reboot and then re-install FG.

Run as admin failed. Uninstalled. Can't reboot for about 5-10 minutes until I get to a save point in Victor Vran.

Uninstalling Steam version fixed it. I didn't even have to reinstall anything. My old FG install was still there, so now it works fine.

Did you happen to do a reboot in between your last two posts? We've actually seen simple reboots fix the issue in the past. Something seems to occasionally get borked up with DirectX and rebooting manages to clear the issue.
