Hello, I am going to form a Battlestar Galactica the board game group, but not here on FG, it will be played on the Vassal Engine, a board game engine. The game is based on the newer Battlestar Galactica series from he 2000's not the one from the 70's. Anyone that has played it knows it's one of the best designer board games out there. If interested PM me so I can put you on a group list. If you missed the newer Battlestar Galactic series do yourself a favor and check it out, yes, it was that good :)

I loves me some Vassal, used it for Advanced Squad Leader and Battletech. Wonder if those would work in FG? Hmm....

I thought of that, and wish it was possible for FG playing BSG, but in Battlestar Galactica the board game there are a lot of Card decks that need to be randomly re-shuffled and you have to have the ability to place a card on top of the deck and on the bottom of the deck.

Vassal has options to randomly re-shuffle card decks and placement of cards back into the deck, by simply right clicking on them and choosing an option.

I don't believe FG can at this time, but man, that could be a whole new niche for them if they could implement board game functionality, and from what I saw at Gen Con, there were tens of thousands of board-gamers, and that's just a small % of whats really out there. Definitely worth thinking about FG Team. The go-to place to play board games on top of RPG's, wow...

Ill put you on the list of potential players.

FG can't do that currently.

This extension simulates basic card decks using tables, and at a base level does what you describe: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?23099-Basic-Card-Tables-Extensions But there's no real way to simulate multiple hands of cards - beyond a single "hand in the player's" Images campaign list, which just shows the names and links which isn't ideal...

But, yeah, other than the card functionality specifically made for the Savage Worlds ruleset, there's not native card support.

OK, looks like we have enough for a game, ill let you guys know when and where. Ill send links to Vassal and you can download the Vassal Engine. Also don't download the Battlestar Galactic the board game module on Vassal, I have a newer private version from one of the devs that zooms locations on the game board on mouse over, it's much better.

NP, I think if this gets traction vassal may go the way of the Dodo bird. So much you can do with Tabletop Sim.
