So with this effect, to hit, damage and ability check all appear good. However it doesn't seem to work with an ability save.

I think for the ability save you need:
SAVE: 5 strength

Except an increase in strength should increase everything strength related, including strength saves. More likely an oversight into the save roll code somewhere.
