Linking Allied Extras with Players Wild Cards

I've heard you can link "allied extras" to the players character sheets by dragging/dropping them on to the players character sheet. This sounds easy on the surface but when I tried it I really didn't see how this was working. How is this done exactly?

Drag the NPC from the Personalities and drop it in the Allies section of the Notes tab of the character sheet. If it isn't in the NPC sidebar to begin with, drag it there from the library first.

Alternative way to do this as GM is to hold ALT button down and drag-and-drop NPC link on PC portrait (on desktop's left upper corner), it will add the NPC to that character.
