I couldn't find an answer to this using the forum search function. Is there a way to give NPCs in the 4E system attacks that are brutal (re-rolling low damage rolls). Players can use weapons with the brutal property, and it functions automatically. However, NPC character sheets aren't set up to use items, just powers.

No. The brutal weapon property is only supported for PC weapons.

A few options I can think of:
* Create NPC as a PC record
* Create an empty character to give special attacks like this to, and create brutal weapon with correct bonuses on Actions tab.
* Reroll dice manually (just like at a face to face game)

If you use a PC record to track, you'll probably want to log into your campaign session with a second instance of FG on the same machine, and grab ownership of your NPC/dummy record. Then, your players won't see as an option when they log in.

Thanks for the response. Making PC records for many of the NPCs isn't feasible (many NPCs in this campaign use guns which have the brutal property), so manual rerolling it is.

It's not as showy, by a brutal 1 die is exactly the same a die one pip smaller +1. So, a brutal d4 is equal to d3+1, and a brutal d6 is equal to a d5+1. Similarly, a brutal 2 is the same as a die two pips smaller +2 (so d4 brutal 2 is d2+2, and a d12 brutal 2 is d10+2). Stated more genrally: Dx brutal y = D(x-y)+y.

You don't get a satisfaction of rerolling a low roll, but it's a simple way of implementing this detail.
