hi guys, juts got FG and been watching the help videos and working most of the stuff out by my self impressed with the progarm it self. I'm going to be running HOTDQ for some friends on FG and was wondering how does handing out Loot / magic weapons ect work from a DM's POV ?

Usually there will be a 'parcel' containing items from a given encounter. You can open the parcels windows from the button on the items window. Presumably the purchased content for HOTDQ has items arranged this way.
Parcels can be dragged to the inventory tab/window of the party sheet (which is opened via the top-right minibutton on the desktop). Once items are visible in the party sheet, players should be able to see items, and then drag them to their sheet.
You can experiment with this by opening one copy of FG as GM, then open a second copy and Join the game using "localhost" for the address.

From the encounter's Story Page find the Parcel link (#1) drag the Red Dragon icon from #1 onto the Parcel Items box (#2) in the Party Sheet (drag from #1 to #2 and release). In the Assignment field of the reward type in the comma separated list of player names to distribute them to (#3). This list is case sensitive and will autofill as you start to type a character's name. Once you have all the loot assigned click the Black Dragon down arrow to move the items into the proper player's inventories. (#4)

Expanding on kylania's very helpful post: as darrenan mentioned, if the players are given access to the inventory tab of the party sheet (access controlled via a campaign option - "Party: Show Inventory to Clients") the players can select individual items from the "Parcel Items" section and drag them to their character sheet inventory. Players can also drag items back from their own inventory to the party inventory ready to be sold for party loot or for another party member to pickup later if needed.

I'd like to add the ultimate noob mistake that I made while trying to distribute parcels in a practice campaign, and nearly posting a "wtf" here on the forums before catching myself...

... be sure your party is actually added to the party sheet!

Also for high value stuff they are going to sell later and split the gold, IE Art objects, etc - It's still easier for the party to just keep a note with the loot instead of splitting the 1 500 gp gem. Obviously if you know the party size ahead of time you could just make that 5 100 gp gems instead though. The party sheet doesn't split odd amounts.

Absolutely! Synching the Party Sheet with the Combat Tracker and Maps is something you need to master real early on. heh
