Looking for Players - D&D5e - Lost Mine of Phandelver 9-12pm CT (GMT-6) weekly

I'm looking for players to play through the Lost Mine of Phandelver D&D 5e adventure. I'll be the DM.

I'd like to play once a week or less. Hopefully at least once a month. My wife is a nightshift nurse and so the day that we play will probably be negotiated week to week, but we get her schedule a month at a time and she works 4 nights a week so there will be plenty of flexibility.

I'll want to use at least audio chat of some kind, I'm open to video as well but I don't think it's as necessary. I'm unsure what program we'll use for chat just yet and I'm open to suggestions.

This week we can meet on Monday, Tuesday, Friday or Saturday, June 22, 23, 26 & 27.

Well, we now officially have too many folks to play, I guess that's a good problem to have :)

Since I'm so popular, I'll level with you guys. I'm new to DnD and Fantasy Grounds. I've DMed a bit for Star Wars Edge of the Empire both with adults and my young children (Though that's more like playing "pretend" than playing RPGs). The reason I'm choosing to DM for my first foray into this is that the DM side of the game interests me more than the player side.

So if any of you are experienced with DnD and Fantasy Grounds, please speak up as I'll likely need your help. The idea of tomorrow being our first day to play means it will likely be predominantly figuring out how it all works.

Also, since we have too many people, I would recommend using the pregenerated characters and that way if anyone is out that week, we can have someone else fill their shoes. This means you'll create characters inside the game you guys will join.

FunkyTable these are the things I think you should try and get under your belt prior to the first session...

learn encounters -
set grid on map
drag pc portraits to combat tracker and from there to map
drag npcs/munsters from the npcs list or monster manual to the combat tracker and from there to the map
set visibility on npcs as needed
players run their own combat actions - gm can run the npcs from the combat tracker
target your enemies using click on your token and ctrl+click on the target
or drag the attack and drop it right on the token

the other things to learn is sharing of maps/images and how to share story content with speech bubbles
check out the story editor shotcuts - ctrl+1, ctrl+2, ctrl+3, ctrl+4, ctrl+5, ctrl+6 - just try them you will see
use modifiers at first - when you are ready - try effects

have fun - ask questions.

I would say everyone should try to be at least 15-30 mins early so we can go over the necessary requirements, introductions, and whatever else we feel like before the time Funky wants to play.

Awesome, I'll be on around 8:30. I've DM'd 5E games on roll20, but not on fantasy grounds yet. I've been playing with FG for a few weeks now and feel pretty comfortable with it, but ultimately this is my first live session with as well. It'll be touch an go for a bit, I'm sure, but we'll get the hang of it :)

Also, I'm an artist, so if anyone wants custom PC portraits and/or tokens specific to our adventure, I'll be more than happy to draw those up for you guys. It's not too hard to upload custom images, so i can walk anyone through that process should the need arise.

I don't mind using TS, as far as setting up, I'd rather not since I used to have servers for it when I was Admin many years ago (I worked for Independent Companies in the Realm of CSGO and TF2). I would also prefer to use my own character too, mainly since my main is what I plan on having for my career really, but can use an additional character if need be. As far as playing goes, I am down for sometime today really so yeah.

So Mr. Doomtoaster, how do I log onto this teamspeak server, because obviously that's the most important thing to get right. I've got the program installed and a microphone available, but I can't figure out how to get on the server.

We're going to make the next official play date on thursday 7/2. We may or may not have room for more players as I haven't been able to talk to one guy. All the characters are saved in the adventure itself so if we don't get the same 4 people on Thursday, there will be room for one or two more.
