LFG D&D 5e - Australian - Experienced with 4E

I'm an Australian based gamer looking to get into D&D 5e. I'm currently in a local 4e game with friends but to often a PC or worse, the DM cant make it to a game so im looking to get my d&d fix else where. Plus it would be nice to see how 5e flows.

Generally im free any day of the week and not to concerned about time zones. I'm looking at playing an illusionary wizard but im happy to change if need be.

Hi tfrago01, I'd be interested in joining a group that was australian timezone friendly also. I'm quite interested in delving into 5e myself.
I have limited tabletop rpg experience, but after playing a few one shots i am eager for more.

Goltron and tfrago01 Id be happy to run something - would a sunday evening be ok for you guys? 9-10pm? Would that be too late?
trago01 - dont worry about your perceived lack of knowledge - I am sure the session would be useful as a player or a GM and it might let you see that GMing is (both) easier (and harder) than you might otherwise believe.
I would be totally fine with up to 5 people joining this if/when we do this.
Also as I have an Ultimate License you dont NEED your own license for this session.

Why dont you joing us and have a look - the knowledge will be useful regardless of whether you GM or not.

hey vikingbrad and Goltron apologies for the disjointed run thru - bit tired and I was a bit all over the place! hope you guys got something out of that.
there is so much goodness in the app - particularly in the 5e ruleset - but it does require some learning and dont expect or try to do it all at first.
learn encounters -
set grid on map
drag pc portraits to combat tracker and from there to map
drag npcs/munsters from the npcs list or monster manual to the combat tracker and from there to the map
set visibility on npcs as needed
players run their own combat actions - gm can run the npcs from the combat tracker
target your enemies using click on your token and ctrl+click on the target
or drag the attack and drop it right on the token

the other things to learn is sharing of maps/images and how to share story content with speech bubbles
check out the story editor shotcuts - ctrl+1, ctrl+2, ctrl+3, ctrl+4, ctrl+5, ctrl+6 - just try them you will see
use modifiers at first - when you are ready - try effects

Hey sorry about the late reply. I stopped receiving email notifications so i thought people stopped posting. My main D&D group has changed to day the Sundays now as its more likely that we will have our DM avaliable for it. I would be happy to come any other day of the week if we can change it though.

natural20 Im playing in a long running 5e campaign that starts Saturdays around 1130 in summer and 930 in winter on Saturdays your time... its close... would that work?

Thanks for replying. I wish I could join your game, but I can't. Any other day would have been perfect but Saturday won't work. I have my D&D home group on Sat mornings (9AM) before heading off to the job. I'll just have to keep looking. Thanks again. =)
