Edit FGDaze! 4 Info found here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?27423-FGDaze!-4-Saturday-January-9th-2016-Game-announcement-thread

I know you guys need more gaming and we love to deliver!

FGCon is the flagship Online Role Playing Convention for Fantasy Grounds and the second biggest online convention running. But we can only run FGCon twice a year and we miss you all in between! So today we are launching FGDaze!

FGDaze is a one day event that will run between FG Con. That means we are adding more events to your Gaming Calendars! We are also working with the team from The Society Of Extraordinary Gamers as they bring the Gamer Geekend (https://www.gamergeekend.org/) events online too!

FGDaze! has previously run on Saturday June 27th and Saturday August 15th! FGDaze! 3 will run on Saturday December 5th 2015

FGDaze will be organised and run entirely on the Forums and Calendar here. Game list for December 5th: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?26895-FGDaze!-3-Saturday-December-5th-2015-Game-announcement-thread!

How do I participate?

GMs please post your games in the Game Calendar using the below as an example and keep these points in mind:

All games start on Saturday (whereever you are is ok!)
Our primary Aim is to provide more opportunity to new players to get a game and meet other gamers
Advertise your Game in the FGDaze1 Games thread initially and then advertise it far and wide
Your Campaign name [B]must begin with [FGDaze]
Post your game in the Game Calendar and set and confirm the game time - dont leave it to a vote
Create a thread specific to your game in the FGDaze forum and link it in your announcement in the main FGDaze1 thread. This thread will be used for discussions, Q&A etc. specific to your game.
In your game thread and game calendar entry indicate how long you anticipate the session will last.
Games will use Text Chat or the Community TeamSpeak Server
For those GMs comfortable with teaching new players - please encourage new players in your Calendar Post

GMs please note that Full License GMs will get bumped to Ultimate License GMs on FGDaze Weekends - thanks Smiteworks!

Players

Check the Game Thread often, subscribe to the thread to get regular updates.
Make sure your TimeZone is set in your profile
Sign up to a game or two
Invite your friends
Spread the word
Respect the GMs and your fellow players - if you cant make an event you signed up for cancel as early as possible
Have fun!

There will be more posts on this topic very soon.

Here is a sample Game Calendar post to use as a guide.

Let the Games Begin!

And the first session is kicking off now! Top Secret by Ted Wallerstedt. An old school favourite - Top Secret was written way back when the Cold War was real, the Berlin Wall still divided a city and a country and cloak and dagger stuff was still the way countries gathered their intel on each other.

[FGDAZE] Savage Top Secret [SXG] (1 spot available)
Synopsis: Missile plans your organization wants are rumored to be in a relatively unguarded warehouse safe. Your team is tasked to get them ASAP. This is a one shot for FGDaze. It is a Savage Worlds conversion of an old school Top Secret adventure. Pregens will be provided.
https://www.fantasygrounds.com/calendar/?id=1472

There are still plenty of sessions available at all times of the day and night over the next 36 hours!

I would like to thank all GMs for running games for this event. The amount and quality of games ran certainly exceeded our expectations. A thank you to players for coming in such great numbers is also in order. Our goal was to provide more opportunities to newcomers to try out Fantasy Grounds. I hope you had a good time and got to try something new. Let us know how we can make this event even better.

Cheers!

FGDaze was a success again. I had a great time in Morgentales game, i'm going to try and run a few one shots myself here and there as they are a great way for folks to see how all the fun works and try out new things.
Thanks to all the GMs for giving up your time to run the games.

Hey! My feedback is I love playing in FG, but hate the calendar. I mostly do Adventure League games and prefer another website just to post my games there. It was fun teaching new people FG though!

Would someone take a look at my thread and calendar entry and tell me what time they think the game was scheduled for (5E Undermountain: Through the Yawning Portal)? I had 5 no shows. One has contacted me to say they thought the game was at 9pm EDT and were sorry they missed it. Never heard from the others though. Fortunately I had a waitlist and they both showed and I got my son to join us, but with that many no shows. I have to imagine I did a poor job of communicating the time, location or something.

(note, I've removed the server alias and password from the calendar entry, it was there.)

The time has past so it doesn't show anymore.

Even if you got it 100% correct it seems that so many people: don't set their timezone in their profile, misread the time or even ignore the shown time and do their own timezone "conversion" (completely botching it). And so many people think that when in daylight savings they're still in in their usual GMT offset (people in the UK think they're still in GMT, when they're in GMT+1; people in US Eastern think they're still in GMT-5 when they're in GMT-4 etc.). My question to you would be - are you in daylight savings at present or are you in Arizona and don't have daylight savings? Even if you're in Mountain Standard (not in daylight savings) some people will see "Mountain" and think that's the usual Mountain timezone (currently in daylight savings) and make bad calculations from that.

With one-shots like this I don't accept anyone on the game calendar until they've communicated (either in the thread or via PM) and if it looks like a weird time for them (e.g. very late/early) I'll confirm straight away before accepting them. You can also see people's timezone (TMZ) in the game calendar and I'll usually PM people close to the date re-confirming the time with people.

Even if you do all you can to confirm everything with players you can still get no-shows (I saw one person on one of the thread apologize for not showing because they just plain forgot), but hopefully not that many...

LordEntrails
August 17th, 2015, 03:04
Thanks Trenloe, Everyone had their timezone set. I guess the two things to learn:
1) Don't accept the player until they post in the thread or a PM.
2) Send reminder PM with time and make sure they know when it is for them.

We can consider using the FGCon booking system - it is also not perfect though.
We went with the FG Calendar to keep management overhead down and to keep it as simple/easy for new users as possible.
We have some time now before the next FGDaze! to look at our options.

Thank you also to Doug and John for the License Bump! over the weekend allowing Full Licenses to accept Demo players.

The next event coming up is Gamer Geekend: https://www.gamergeekend.org/events/role-playing-games/
Followed by FG Con 7 in October.

As a player I would like to add my thanks and well done to all the GM's who put out their time to create and even that allows us to try so many things. Through these events I have met players I now play with in regular games, some superb GM's and some rulesets it might have been years before I ever encountered them. I found the Dungeon World damned ran this FGDaze to be very interesting and different from other rulesets, it was far more similar to theater improv games than any I had encountered in the past, I just wish I had understood the difference early enough to make the most of them.

Hola JerryRig
There have been some initial discussions on Con timings for next year starting with Gamer Geekend and then FG Con 8.
I think we could squeeze a FGDaze! in during January.... otherwise GG2 will be in mid/late Feb and FG Con 8 in mid April...

JerryRig
December 19th, 2015, 16:35
Not interested in anything related to the Geekend and those Soggy members ...they've a bad history with supporting their games. Really just care about FG Daze and if there is going to be one in January.
Please tell me your not planning the FG Daze with/around anything the Geekend does ...their history of inconsistency, member favoritism in their games and overzealous management of games will likely cause this endeavor to falter over time as people experience the Society's gaming experience. Don't get FG Daze thrown in with that lot PLEASE!

Give us a FG Daze!!!
