Trying to make an effect for absorb elements.

Effect 1. RESIST: acid [self] Duration 1 round
Effect 2. DMG: 1d6 acid, melee [self] [singles] Duration 1 round (note this setup only adds to melee weapons)

Now , would this spell add damage to a melee spell ( under the ..next time you make a melee attack )?
if so can you automate the additional spell damage?

No. Casting a spell is not a melee attack. It's a cast. You might find this useful https://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/rules-spellcasting

Thanks for the link,

The spell would have to say ... next time you make an attack , or spell attack for it to apply to it.
Such as true strike , the next time you make an attack roll, applies to both melee, ranged and spell attacks

the effects above work then for this, now just need to make one for each damage type that can be absorbed , but that seems kind of bulky.
