View Full Version : Cut and paste issues with steam

I create a new campaign in each of a steam, crossover and windows version of FG. I then open a story entry in each and try to cut and paste the following:

You don’t put up with any nonsense when you’re on a mission. That’s how people get hurt. That’s how people get killed. But when it’s time to play, you’ll play harder than anyone.

The text pastes fine in both the crossover and windows version of FG, however nothing is pasted in the steam version. If the ’ is changed to a ' it works fine.

Disable the Steam overlay?

How is that done?

Enable Steam Overlay while in-game would appear to be unchecked already.

When you're running the "Steam" version is this on a Windows PC or a Mac using the Steam FG package?

On a Mac

It's a problem with paste handling within FG expecting text to be pasted without formatting and the default Mac behavior to Paste with Styling. It works if you copy and paste from a plain text, but not from many other sources that have extra markup included. Here is a post on the subject I made a while back:

I've been experimenting with this today and I see what you are experiencing. Fantasy Grounds only supports pasting of plain text and unfortunately, there are a number of different ctrl characters, hidden HTML and more in many sources that you may want to paste from. I played around with a couple different options to remap shortcut keys to Paste and Match Style; however, the best solution for me was to locate and install an application called PlainClip. Once installed, you can open the application with the Shift key down to set the preferences and configure it for the first time. This puts one additional step in the process to copy and paste into FG but it allows you to paste from any source (so far as I can tell.)

New copy and paste process:

Highlight text you want and press Command+C
Launch PlainClip (it runs without an interface and normally finishes immediately)
Place your cursor in FG where you want it and press CTRL+V

With that setup, I was able to paste entire sections, including HTML, directly from d20pfsrd into FG.

Weird that it works in Crossover Mac, but not steam Mac?

Not really, Crossover runs Windows while WINE = WINE is not an Emulator. :D

Just tried that and it doesn't appear to work :(

Guess I'll have to go back to Crossover.
