Can I modify Hoard of the Dragon Queen without it being written over by updates?

I believe any modifications you make in the individual campaign stays, since it's not actually modifying the actual downloaded file. I could be wrong in this. If I understand it right, the update modifies the actual library files.

The changes used to get reset when the underlying module changed prior to v3.1.0. We just changed this behavior with that update. Campaign modifications will be applied to updated modules as long as the underlying data has the same data structure.

Reading this means I actually understand what that change meant. I couldn't figure it out before :)
