View Full Version : Any way to access the D&D Complete Core Class Pack?

I have purchased the D&D Complete Core Class Pack, and it is available within the game.

I am interested in creating a Forgotten Realms specific mod that incorporates races, history and regions and whatnot from Forgotten Realms. I was hoping that I could use the Complete Core Class Pack as a reference as it has the functionality that I would like to replicate (drag/drop races, classes, feats, etc, and the auto filling of the character sheet based on those choices).

I can't seem to find it. If it is not accessible (as a file in the filesystem as the other mods are), is there a similarly capable (in functionality) mod that I can access? I realize that the Fantasy Grounds work is not open source, and I completely respect that. A lot of hard work went into development of both the core game and its suppliments. I can figure out how to do what I want, I am sure, but an example would make it much easier.

It's locked in the vault. WOTC protects it's copyright fiercely.

you can add content in manually and export it to get an idea of a lot of the XML structure
the drag and drop is more detailed and the auto-prompt/popup stuff more detailed again...

what you are talking about doing is a lot of work.
you might try just getting it into Par5e first and building the libraries
once you have a good chunk of info in there and you still have the desire and time and energy then post where you are up to and your specific challenge and someone will have the answer
Par5e is your best bet to start with though - it will build properly formatted 5e libraries with most functionality

The answer you seek is, I believe, to use the par5e tool to create your own mod incorporating the necessary information that you seek. What I would suggest is that you use this https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?21835-D-amp-D-Basic-Rules-PDF-Parser to get the D&D basic rules files so that you can see how the various bits need to be laid out for use in par5e. You can then download par5e and add in whatever content that you want.

Everything in software dev is a lot of work, but that is OK. I have a couple of projects starting in a week or so that will last me a while, but once I get done with them I would not mind attacking this. I would love to see content for Forgotten Realms incorporated. There is so much info out there for FR in previous editions. Thanks for the advice!

You probably wouldn't want to modify the actual ruleset anyway; any changes you would make would be overwritten when a new update came out. Better to make a separate module or extension.

Would still be nice to see the formatting of the FG Mod for 5e, It would not have to be the actual 5e SRD stuff (Copyright stuff) but if we had a mod file the had a couple generic Weapons, Spells, Skills, Equipment ect in it that showed us how the mod file if formatted and what are the different options in each one, so we know what we can put in our mods to make it work for us that want to make are own content to use with the 5e FG system.
Example I want a totally different world might even be more modern or something else. But we like the actual 5e system in general. We want to use it but put in are own stuff and still have it function.

You can also now create everything within Fantasy Grounds now which wasn't the case when this post was originally made; so you don't even need to worry about par5e or even XML if you don't want to. The only thing that can't be done within par5e is reference text but Nickademus' Templates will do the trick for that bit.

You'll find links to various resources that might be useful here (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?27296-Guides-videos-and-other-helpful-information).

Now? Or when v3.3 is live?

You can create it now. It will just be bugged. :P

Now? Or when v3.3 is live?

Ok, just to clarify everything except classes which does require 3.3 for the fix to the current live version bug :)
