is it possible to create folders inside the story storage area to better separate 2 or more different locations within the game. example the town adventure and the dungeon adventure.

Add a tab at the bottom of the story section.

Thanks for this.

Related Question: So the only way to name a tab is to type the name in the chat window and then drag it onto the tab? I assume this works for all organizers in the various windows etc?

Any comment on why making sub-folders (in the o/s) doesn't work?

In the windows that support the tabbed environment, yes. https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Campaign_Data#Campaign_Data_List

Any comment on why making sub-folders (in the o/s) doesn't work?
Because the campaign data hierarchy wasn't designed to read sub folders for campaign images - there isn't a way to have nested folders/data in these. Other areas, such as tokens and portraits, do have nesting - this is because these are just read straight from the disk (including sub directories), there's not any additional information stored in the campaign database for tokens and portraits. Whereas the campaign database stores a lot of information regarding the image - links, mask, grid, token placement, etc., etc. and currently this has been designed not to have a hierarchy beyond the top level categories.
