hello i'm new to the whole FG world. I need help with creating characters and joining games I would love to play pathfinder or dnd. anyone who can help me with this would be greatly appreciated.

To create characters for pathfinder - I suggest you use PCGEN to create them - then export the XML and load them into Fantasy Grounds. I've been doing it great. Had to do some updates after loading them but adding things is easy.

You should make sure look at and load the modules you will need before doing your import.
