Editing NPCs

I'm having difficulty editing NPCs. Changing stat/skill die is easy, but how do I give the NPC a new weapon, new armour, new skill or new edge? For instance dragging weapon and armour items onto the NPC doesn't work...

Also if I select an NPC from the deluxe library, eg an orc, and make changes, does that change my library or just allow me to make a one-off different version? Is there an easy way to replicate an NPC to make it possible to derive new versions?

hmmm ok dragging an orc from my library onto my personality list means I can rename it as a different version and it lets me add weapons and skills yay!

I still need helping with armour though... I guess this is a work in progress!
