Saw this in my nightly reading. This looks like a very interesting method.

That is an interesting method.

I remember my first games of D&D, where you would roll 3d6 down the stat list, and that's what you had. My first Thief character was lowish in dexterity, and had a 3 Charisma. That didn't really matter though, as stats were secondary to the roleplay. I thought it was mind-blowing when our DM gave us the option in another campaign, where we would roll 3d6 six times and put them where we wanted.

This one time led to the party fighter having a strength of 10 and wisdom of 16, while the cleric had an 18 strength and a 9 wisdom.

That is an interesting method of doing abilities.

LOL when we rolled 3d6 down the line we *waited* until after the rolls to decide our classes. ;) You would get things like a wizard with a mediocre Int and good Str since stats didn't originally effect spellcasting. Of course the mods where different too in the 3d6 era - you don't take a minus until 7 or a bonus until 15ish depending on the stat.
