Ok...I like what I see...this looks like the exact thing I've been looking for. the problem is I'm not quite sure how or what to order. So help explain this to me like I'm a five year old with my parent's credit card in hand :)

First, I know I want to pick up the Ultimate License for the one-time cost of $149.00.

So, in order to play the D&D Rulesets, now I have to purchase:

D&D Complete Core Class Pack
D&D Complete Core Monster Pack

Then, optionally, for a ready built Adventure: D&D Lost Mine of Phandelver.

Is this correct?

It's probably also important to note that I plan on building or loading in my own adventures, NPCs etc.

Thanks!

These are the most complete packages. If you know you want everything 5E and want to run for a group with no other GM, yes that is what you want.

The D&D complete Core Class Pack = 5E Player's Handbook.
The D&D Complete Core Monster Pack = 5E Monster Manual.
The D&D Lost Mine of Phandelver = 5E Starter Pack, less the dice.

Eventually you would want to get the DMG equivalent pack when it is released. The Monster Pack is what you need to build your own adventures. The Core Class Pack is for players to use for their characters when they are playing in your game.

Technically you don't NEED anything other than a licence in order to play D&D 5E through Fantasy Grounds.

If you have a physical PHB / Monster Manual and you're happy to do manual data entry for all of your PCs and NPCs then Fantasy Grounds has everything you need as it is.

If, however, you would like to have this content pre-loaded into Fantasy Grounds so you can just drag and drop spells / abilities / traits onto your character sheets, or have NPCs you can drop straight into a game, then you can purchase the content packs you've listed.

Thank you both for the replies! Considering I have the source material already or can borrow from friends, I don't mind creating my own tables. Of course I don't think I'll sit here and plug in the entire Monster Manual at once, just as needed. Thanks for the suggestion.

At the very least - do yourself a favour and spend the extra $3 on the Basic Rules.
If you like it - then hit your players up for some cash and buy the D&D Complete Core Class Pack and D&D Complete Core Monster Pack

Yeah I think the Class Pack is definitely going to get bought, now that I think about it. They can get pretty complex.
