Hello all, I have begun working on a Star Wars Saga Edition campaign and was trying to find the best way to create maps for it. Most of the map editors I've seen are more geared to a fantasy settings. Now, I've seen that Campaign Cartographer has a expansion for doing spaceships, however I don't know if it has the ability to create other kinds of areas.

If anyone knows a software that would be better for creating science fiction settings let me know. All help is appreciated!

The Cosmographer add on for Campaign Cartographer is pretty good. What "other kinds of areas" are you thinking of?

I was thinking of having the players explore parts of the worlds available. For example, they might explore a city, visit one of the Cantinas, or go into a "dungeon" where the fantasy objects and tile sets really don't work out that well.

I don't know if you have played any of the Knights of the Old Republic games, or even The Old Republic MMO but I want to try and get the feeling across that you are in a large technologically advanced city. Similar to how you would feel when you go to Taris, Telos, Coruscant, and other such places.

The easiest way of saying this is I would like to be able to use Cosmagrapher or another tool for more than ship building, I would like to use those assets to create other locales for the players to explore.

Dundjinni has quite a bit of sci-fi tiles. You'll have to rely on google and the forum search function to get the most out of it but I use Dundjinni for all my fantasy maps and modern, and I've often come across sci-fi tilesets.

Is dundjinni still supported? I always liked the output, but haven't seen them talked about much of late.

Most of the symbols that come with Cosmographer could be used to make other SciFi locations.

The March issue of the Campaign Cartographer annual this year has symbols and aids to make starports: https://www.profantasy.com/annual/2015/march15.html

There were also additional symbols and tutorials in two months of the 2012 annual: https://www.profantasy.com/annual/2012/july12.html and https://www.profantasy.com/annual/2012/october12.html Whereas they mention ships, a lot of the textures and symbols can be used to make buildings etc.. Perhaps have a look at the tutorial videos in the July 2012 annual (link above).

It might also be worth asking this question on the Campaign Cartographer forum: https://forum.profantasy.com/
