Ok so please someone straighten this out for me. Since it is required to purchase the character customization pack to use the individual class packs then there is no reason to ever buy the basic pack? Also if you purchase the Complete Core Class Pack do you still need the character customization pack?

The answer to your second part is no. If you buy the complete core class pack it includes everything from the PHB.

The first part I'm not sure! If you were just giving FG a trial, and on a budget, you may want the Basic Pack if you prefer an officially supported release to parsing the basic rules for free. It also gives you the theme extension and artwork that wouldn't be included if you were just parsing the basic rules.

For anyone planning on buying the Customization pack & their class pack though, the basic pack is redundant yes.
