View Full Version : PC Win 8.1 User- Purchased from Steam - Can't find my 5e content

Strange-

It's listed in the DLC on steam as purchased but it does not appear when I begin FG.

Any ideas what to do? I've updated a dozen times and still nothing. Nothing in the modules either...

In your Settings for FG, make sure the box is set to Check Steam for DLC and then run an update. It should pull it down then. Depending on which DLC packs you picked up, you might see new extensions for your 5E ruleset and then inside of your 5E campaign, you'll see new options to activate under Library | Modules.

Just woke up (I'm in Japan).

Same problem. Steam says I have it. Boxes checked on DLC content. Box checked to load DLC on update. I update. No D&D 5e content.

I even checked the game data folders...Nothing new.

I purchased both complete core packs and the adventure module.

I previously purchased lots of other DLC and have never had this happen.

I've got my emailed receipt if that would help.

Any ideas?

I would email Doug @ [email protected] and see about getting the DLC linked to your forum account so you can get rolling. The only other thing I could think is that you have a antivirus software ore firewall blocking FG.

Start FG.

Click Create New Campaign.

Choose 5e.

When your table top loads, click on Library (lower right hand side of the screen).

Click on Modules button (lower left side of the screen that opens).

Pull open the closed books next to the content. I don't have the 5e stuff, so I don't know what they're called, but you should see them if they have been downloaded.

Close the Library and you should be able to access the content via the other buttons on the right hand side of the screen.

You also need to have the steam client loaded on the same PC and logged in when you do a DLC update as it uses the logged in Steam client to get your DLC info.

If the window closes before you see what if it completed, you can look in your FG app directory for the Update.log file. It should tell you if it sees an error or not.

Absolutely nothing is working for me.

I've deleted local content for FG and reinstalled it.

I've deleted the 5e data and had the updater install it again.

NOTHING!

NONE of the 5e DLC is available for me to use.

The updater sometimes shows it's loading the DLC - but when I start FG....Not there.

I just don't know what else to do. I've never had this issue with any other DLC from Steam.

Do you have any errors reported at the end of your update.log file as mentioned by ddavison in post #11 above?

This suggests that you are getting the content.

When you say "Still no content when I start FG" what, exactly please, are you doing to see if you have this contents?

As a quick check, follow these steps:

Launch Fantasy Grounds.
Create a brand new 5E campaign.
Load this new 5E campaign.
Go to the Library -> Modules screen and review what modules are available. More info here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Library#Module_Activation

Have you happened to create any custom CoreRPG and/or 5E rulesets in the past - or possibly as part of the Edge of the Empire ruleset? If so, try deleting those and re-updating.

I moved (cut) the entire FG App data folder this time so that it would create a new one fresh.

During the update - all other content loaded - but I received a strange error about content vault.

Created a new campaign for 5e. Opened the library. Selected modules and ...

Try running Fantasy Grounds as Administrator. Right-click on the Fantasy Grounds startup icon and select "Run As Administrator", once FG loads go into the settings window and do an update. Then try loading your 5E campaign and seeing if the modules are there.

That might do it. I forwarded it to John (Moon_Wizard on the forums) to weigh in. All the new content is now stored securely in a vault file. It sounds like that might be the issue for you -- but I don't yet know what would be causing that.

Still no luck. Deleted the entire file again and ran update.

Error again with the vault at the new 5e DLC content point.

Heading to bed now.

Thanks so much for trying to help me through this. I'm really excited about trying 5e out on FG.

Can you try deleting content.dat in the FG App directory and then running an update.

Same results. First time vault error. 2nd time updated but no DLC to be found.

Nearly 4 am. Gotta get some rest.

Running FG Ultimate on a Mac via Steam. Bought the two Core packs for 5e via Steam Store.

NO idea how to activate or install these. So far none of the suggestions in this thread have helped.

Anyone know how to do it? Thanks

DLC is not supported on the Mac at present, you can get your purchases transferred to the FG updater. See the post from SmiteWorks (post #2) in this post: https://steamcommunity.com/app/252690/discussions/2/617330406661407170/#c617330406661455758

Woke up this morning and ran updater again.

Still looks like it loads the data - but then none is there.

Gotta go to work now. Thanks again for all working to help me resolve this strangeness.

I manually linked those to your FG forum account to see if you have better luck with that solution instead. Give it a shot and let me know if this solved it for you.

I apologize but I am not sure what this means. Linked?

Since I purchased the FG years ago on DriveThruRPG and then later activated on steam and upgraded to ultimate - I've purchased all other DLC from Steam.

Is there a way for me to download the content from here instead of through Steam?
I see the online store...

The FG updater links purchases to your FG user name (the one you log into these forums with). To see if you have any products linked to this ID go to the store and click the "Order History" link to the top right of the page. This will show you all of your purchases that are linked to this account.

Then, when you open Fantasy Grounds, press the "Settings" button and enter your user name in the products section, press the "Update" button and enter your password, click "Login" and your products should now show. Press "OK" and press update to download the latest versions of your linked products.

And since Doug linked you manually, everything should update if you go into the Settings on the button and input your forum name and password and then click OK at the bottom and then run the Updater. :)

I believe the problem is solved - but I'm not sure how.

I deleted my entire content folder and ran a new update from FG (not Steam) using the content linked to my forum name.

I still got the same error about content vault and when I started FG I did not see the 5e DLC.

I was ready to wipe FG from my machine entirely and start over but I found the 5e content back in the FG program files.

I cut and pasted them one by one into the App Data folder where all my other content and DLC was located.

FIXED!!! The modules are there!! The 5e content is beautiful!!

I have no idea why the 5e materials were saved in a totally different location - but I was able to move it.

Huge THANK YOU to everyone the helped me through this.

If you have any ideas as to why this happened - please let me know so I can change a setting or something. I'm clueless. It was only the 5e stuff that did this.

Now to connect with some folks and try out my connection to play :)
My Japanese Softbank router is not kind...
