View Full Version : "Rent to Own" Pricing Idea

I had an idea for how to get more people to buy FG, and ultimately to grow the user base.

The only thing that changes is a new payment option.

What if, for say, $10 a month, over a number of months that works out to say 150% the price of the product you're buying, you could rent to own. It would work just like the subscription model, but at the end, you'd own, say, an Ultimate License.

I'd take part. The only thing keeping me from an Ultimate License upgrade is the one time cost. I'm overextended, but I could extend another $10 a month.

The option was available to US residents in the past - I think it was withdrawn once the subscription was introduced. It was done thru PayPal and you could actually get it at little or no overhead - you just had 6 months to pay for it. Was available only on Ultimate and Ultimate Upgrade and only to US residents (something to do with financing regulations or some such?).

I've just gone through the process of buying an ultimate licence (but not completing the transaction) and I was offered PayPal credit once I logged into PayPal - this is no interest if paid within 6 months or standard interest (APR 19.9%) if paid over a longer period. This would allow a purchase price over a period of months less than the 150% mentioned by the OP - approx $10/month for 18 months.

Thanks Trenloe - I couldnt confirm as Im outside of the US.
Obviously you are much better off paying this over the shorter 6 months but that is at approximately twice your budget.

Trenloe - can you confirm if its possible to do the Upgrade this way?

Yep, it is. I can select "PayPal credit" as the payment option on anything over $99. So you could buy a bunch of supplements too! :)

I tried it a while back, and sadly, because of medical bills, my credit wasn't good enough. Thanks, though. Maybe I'll try again.
