These seem to be a persistent problem with Fantasy Grounds. I don't know what else to do for this besides set up a VPN, which can lead to a whole other level of technical headaches.

I have opened the port 1802 on both my router and windows firewall. I have a Linksys WRT54GL wireless router and I am running Windows 7 64bit Ultimate.

I can connect using 2 instances on the same machine, and suspect I could do it on another computer in the same LAN (though I haven't tested it yet). However, the port fails to open for other machines outside the LAN. Canyouseeme.org times out and the port tester in the game also fails, after about 20 seconds, making me suspect it is also timing out. I have also run a tracert to Fantasygrounds.com and it shows a time out after a few jumps.

My ISP does not block the port. I have no other firewalls and don't know what to do. Unless there is some other thing I have overlooked, then I suppose a VPN will be my next course of action. Any other tips or networking suggestions would be appreciated.

When you say "opened the port 1802" what have you actually done? Just allowing it isn't enough, you'll need to port forward to the internal IP address of your computer running Fantasy Grounds. Info here: https://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/WRT54GL/Fantasy_Grounds.htm

Yes, Trenloe. I did that. Thank you for clarifying though. You are very helpful (I am not being sarcastic, but I know it can be hard to tell with written words).

The problem is intermittent. I have checked it several times this morning, and twice was successful and once was another failure. I am beginning to suspect it is completely out of all of our hands, because the weather has been really bad in the area and someone down the line might be having connectivity issues. If I continue to have failures, then I will investigate further, but I think the problem may actually be solved, except for weather issues. :)

I am really looking forward to getting my party together and playing this weekend.

the problem is you are doing DOUBLE NAT.
You have 2 routers doing NAT.
You need to make settings on both.
PM if you want me to jump on and give you a hand.

Not sure there are 2 routers. The OP says they have a wireless router but doesn't mention anything else. Double NAT also wouldn't explain why it sometimes works...

The first 4 hops are all private IP Addresses - Id be willing to bet he is doing double NAT...
ISP is possibly doing some too...
