Hello FG family,

My friends and I are coming back to FG after a year ish off. I am the DM and we are starting the 5e starting kit to see if we like it. I am trying to enter information but I remember having a lot of modules for 3.5 such as monsters, spells equipment, etc. Are these available yet for 5e?

Failing that I am struggling with the format on NPC sheets. I am attempting to add an action for a goblin's attack but it doesn't seem at all familiar with 3.5 fantasy grounds formats. Any and all help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. I have a lot of information to enter in order to get ready to run the 5e starter kit campaign.

Welcome back to Fantasy Grounds! :)

You won't find 5E modules like you did for 3.5E because Wizards of the Coast haven't released 5E under the same Open Gaming License (OGL) that 3.5E was released under. Everything released by Wizards for 5E is under copyright - so you have to create your own Fantasy Grounds content.

However, there are a couple of things to help you:

Basic Rules Parser: downloads the freely available PDFs from Wizards and creates spells and creatures module, plus text files for use in PAR5E: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?21835-D-amp-D-Basic-Rules-PDF-Parser

PAR5E - a project for entering 5E "stuff" as specially marked up text and then creates FG modules for you. It takes some diligence to get a good amount of data parsing, but could be worth a go if you want a lot of library modules: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?18123-Project-Par5e

I appreciate it, this will help a lot. I'm kinda of disappointed they didn't keep the open license but such is life. Have a good night

It will also give you a chance to see monsters attacks in the right format. :)
