Hi All.
I'm not certain where to exactly post this so posted here.. If however this is not the correct place please feel free to move it to the correct place.. Now with all that being said this is my question...
I have been toying with an idea to write an original adventure for C&C... However I am not certain on where to begin and what materials would be needed.. So If anybody can point me in the right direction .. It would be appreciated... Also so you know I have absolutely no knowledge on script writing or programming... So was wondering if perhaps this is even a reachable goal for me... Any advice is welcome

You shouldn't need anything fancy to create a module for C&C in FG. Just the C&C Ruleset and a Full License for Fantasy Grounds.

Enter FG and begin creating Story entries... I watched one of the helpful videos that can be found on the FG Wiki (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Videos) .. this helped me with some basic concepts I wouldn't have thought of when creating a campaign using FG.
Once you have the campaign built.. you can export it as a module using the /export function.

Check out the Adventureaweek guidelines (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/images/b/b7/Adventure-a-Week_Module_Creation_Guide.pdf) for making a module, those are a good guideline.

Thanks very much that should prove to be very helpful.

If you are writing your own original content to re-share with people, just make sure that you don't use any official names, images or descriptions from the original C&C material unless those have been marked as Open Gaming Content. That means you may need to create your own monsters and NPCs.

Its for personal use but if I was to decide on doing one to share where Would I find that Information at..

If it's all your own work and you're going to share it with the community for free, then the information posted above in post #4 is a good place to start. You basically create all of the info you need in a single Fantasy Grounds campaign and then use the Module Export feature to export your module: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Library#Module_Export

Then, if you're sharing with the community, post a thread in the relevant ruleset forum with your module included as an attachment (you'll need to zip up the .mod file before you can attach it in the forums).

Hi Trenloe,
I started to work on my mod last night ,,, But having a problem with the encounters... It seems that the players can attack my critters but the critters cant attack back... When attempting to attack with the critters I get a message saying that I cant attack.. I know I did something wrong but cant see what it is.. Everything is on the map and in the combat tracker..

What ruleset and what is the exact message you get? Could you provide a screenshot of the issue?

OK, that's pretty straightforward - the token that you have selected for targeting is not linked to an entry on the combat tracker. If you want a token to be linked to a creature for targeting you need to:

Assign tokens to the NPC/Personalities entries.
Add your creatures to the Combat Tracker first.
If the creatures in the combat tracker don't have tokens assigned to them in the combat tracker, add them by dragging the tokens from the token bag into the combat tracker entries.
Then, drag the tokens from the combat tracker to the map.

You need to drag the tokens from the entry in the combat tracker to the map so that there is a link between the creature and the token. It's all in the original error message! :)

See damned's video on token use. From 2:30 he begins placing tokens on the map through the combat tracker: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjtnAhWkaSQ

I'd recommend watching the videos in his video channel: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsgd1zJLdiKUrEd85Dqr6UcaaLvD7YlJd

There are lots of other videos available in the wiki: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Videos

Thanks I'm all new to this .. So didn't understand when it said about being linked.. I thought I could just drag and drop the PC token into the combat tracker and it links automatically. So basically I have to go in and add the pcs into the Npc tab then move them into the tracker from there..

PC's are different, you won't find them in the NPC tab but the Characters tab - you need to add the PC record to the combat tracker from the characters tab, or from the portraits along the top of the desktop (when players are logged in and have selected a PC). Watch damned's video I link above - he shows you how to do it using the player protraits on the desktop - but you could also add the PCs to the combat tracker from the Characters list.

The key thing to always remember is that if you want automation to occur (attacks, damage, etc. against PC or NPC tokens) then their tokens must be dragged to the map from a combat tracker record, this is the only way to ensure that the token is linked to a record in the combat tracker. Then targeting, attack resolution, application of damage, etc. can all go through the combat tracker - which is where everything happens as far as most of the automation is concerned.

Hey jhall6766 the videos - while poor in quality - are fairly short and wont take you long to watch. Each one goes for between 2 and 7mins.
Watch the Encounters one cos thats what you are having issues with but you might gain something from the others too.
