Okay I'm really new to this and I'm feeling like a bit of a twit at the moment but the instruction make it seem easy and yet I have not been able to download a single .PAK file. I tried looking for instructions for this but found none. I suspect it may be a browser setting or something.

I've tried on IE, Chrome and Firefox and they all want to open the link as a new page full of word soup.

Any advice? I only have so much hair to tear out.

Not sure what your problem might be. When you click the link to download the file you should get a dialogue inviting you to open the file or save it. You should be selecting the save option, and that will download the file. Once that has been done you need to move the file into the ruleset folder in Fantasy grounds and it will be there in the choices when you start the application. The file will only open sensibly in Fantasy Grounds.

Thanks Zacchaeus, At least I'm not out of my mind. Not sure why my browsers want to read it rather than download it. I'll keep searching. Maybe even try a bare bones browser.

Updated chrome to the current version (apparently mine was several versions old) it works there now and that is good enough for me.

Thanks again!

You should also be able to right-click on the link to the file and "Save File As" or "Save link as". That may get around the browser trying to open the file.

I've seen that behaviour before, and not just with FG. The browser gets itself into a state where it will try to open the php script in a new tab instead of reading and executing it - I think (ie suspect) that a setting is being modified by something else (another web page, a program on the PC, whatever) and the only way I've found to get around it is to use a different brand of browser and/or update/reinstall the browser - it always works afterwards but sooner or later the problem shows its ugly head again.

I wish I could work out what was doing it but, as yet, I haven't been able to track down the cause.

Glad you've got it working

Cheers
