Hi,

I am a pathfinder player with a lot of experience in PbP. (https://pbphouse.com/forum/index.php?board=236.0 - Player: Arpat) Since the game has slowed down considerably i want to learn FG as a player to end up running a game.

I'm not a rule lawyer (not as player and not as GM...). I am very very bad at math, but math isn't going to be a big problem since thats taken care of by FG. Character creating i can only do with HeroLab. (manual is very frustrating (due to math) and therefore a huge time consuming process)

So if you are looking for another person to fill in a spot and you and your group have time and patience to wait for mr. slow (i think things over, math sucks and a bit of a language barrier, so reading takes more time blabla) let me know.
Also: I am not directly looking for voice and (certainly not video) communications as they are quite invasive in my private live (and force me to sit somewhere more private).
I am considering it, but if there is no need i rather not.

LOL.. i am not even starting and already have demands and ... Oh well. i will see if i can get a bigger world.

Well.. since no one has said it yet, Welcome. You may want to post over at the guild hall with the times and days you are available as well as your timezone. Otherwise check out the steam forums as there may be something there. Then there is the Society of Extraordinary Gamers (https://extraordinarygamers.com/) that run one shots at random times. Check them out as well. Hopefully you will be able to get into a game pretty quick.

And if you are new with the software, Dulux-Oz has some good videos. He'll probably pop in here and he as the links in his sig. If not here is a link (https://tinyurl.com/nhqhkg5) to his playlist.

If you can catch me on the Fantasy Grounds(FG) Teamspeak Server (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?17071-Voicechat!-Community-TeamSpeak3-Server) I can see about mentoring you up on Pathfinder. As long as I don't have a group playing (usually Wedn & Sun evenings) I will be happy to assist in getting you up to speed as a DM/GM on FG.

Welcome to FG ....good to see another prospective DM/GM joining the ranks.

Hey man welcome if I can help any please let me know I'll be glad to jump in teamspeak with you and give you a ride around on Fantasy Grounds and maybe do some tests and encounters with you just to teach you the software a little bit it wouldn't be a problem at all I have a good bit of time off from now till the first of January. I will say this, it will be hard for you to play in games without voice chat. It can be done but it is not optimal many of the GM's are giving the storyline and also combat is resolved in chat a lot of times as well as what you may or may not be doing as a group . It would definitely slow the game down with the lack of communication. In society there is already an issue of games running too long again and it doesn't mean that it can't be done but maybe look into maybe branching out and looking at doing it. I think it would be better for the group please send me a message and I would be glad to help you , take care

I've played 2 games in just typing chat and they were fine ...little slower then chat but a lot more immersion. If you keep your group down in numbers it goes smoother as there is a lot less to keep track of.

Wow, didn't expect responses this quick :) Thanks for that!

Funny... playing MMO's also work better with chat. Besides the speed up in gameplay i would not have thought it could become a (sort-of) problem due to longer and/or slower response(s). In an MMO the world around us evolves and changes quickly making fast response necessary. In a VTT i would not expect that. I need to think about how i would like to run a game. For me a VTT was more a visually engaging tool then PbP on its own. It's not to speed up for the speed on itself. its to make it more attractive to play a game then just plain text. If that makes any sense... I think many players drop out of the text only because there is a lack of visual stimula. (i use 3D software and campaign cartographer to make a richer world. and i added the Realm Works as well to make a better design.
hmm. thinks to think about :)
