Hoard of the Dragon Queen 5e European friendly times

I would like to run this new module in about four to five weeks with some prep sessions before hand. My time slot for playing is 8pm BST London time for about two to three hours most Thursdays. I have three potential players already and would like a few more. I am prepared to run the sessions for the new Adventurers League as a home game.

The Fantasy grounds 5e ruleset is solid but I have not mastered the PAR5e but I do have the basic spell and monster modules plus I have an ocr'd PHB to help players build their own characters. No I won't give you a free pdf but i will put into a text file the bits you need for your character. I will be using teamspeak and you will need some kind of licence for fantasy grounds

I should mention that a DCI number isn't necessary got play even if you want use your character in another Adventurers League game. The whole adventurers league st up is a whole lot more informal compared with the Pathfinder society

So I'm thinking of a possible tiefling warlock (pact with a fiend) fighting a battle against his evil heritage and pact.

He would have had his tail cut off and horns cut to stubs (obviously noticeable without some sort of head gear, and no I won't be using a Hellboy image!)

Yeah, thanks for saying :P I showed up and they were playing the pathfinder module he's finishing.

Finished my character before the (non-)game. He's kind of a scout (stealth, perception), and a good archer made out of a fighter. Picked those skills because they are most often usefull, but if we have already that, could switch to charisma and be a face for example.

Shea (Human Monk) will follow the Way of The Shadow and will be a stealthy type. He's also reasonably charismatic, but doesn't have persuasion.

Some skill overlap is good imo.

Jh 79 post a character and you are in the game. The pathfinder mini campaign finished on schedule last night with the party having to cut their way out of the stomach of a giant flesh eating tree so the 5e game should start on schedule. Not why I was making more than one, but having just got my players through the first 'dungeon' of Lost Mines of Phandelver, I can agree with you. Whilst no PCs died I had a fair few bleeding out at zero HP.

Xp comes out as 450 from monster slaying and a bonus 300 from Venomous Filigree's crèche scheme which works out at 125xp each

no body got inspired, i will need some heavy hints initially to give out this award to players

I'm considering using the test server to get the most upto date version of the 5e ruleset, what are peoples views on this?

I use the most recent test version for my weekly game with no issues, so gets my vote.

Oh and Turik wasn't so much Babysitter, more Disciplinarian.... However if that means more XP all the better! :)

Saul/Korentin, I told you I'd come across a cool combo for you online.
Half Orc Barbarian X/Champion 3
Half orc and barbarian both give you a full additional weapon damage die on a crit (d12 for great axe)
with champion and reckless attack, you will crit 19% of the time !
Also the GWF feat gives you a bonus action attack after a crit.
Consider it, and don't forget in Adventurer's league you can make changes to your character build until right up before level 5.

right the server is up and its running on test, for those of you who don't now how to get the test server running , start FG then click on the settings button, at the bottom of the settings page there are three options, Live which is the normal version which be marked as active, test and "dev" click test and then press the update button that appears and all the new code downloads and you get the latest 5e build to use

Ianricks58 I take it you don't have much familarity with Fantasy Grounds guessing by your post count. You can have a game next thursday but i think it would be easier for every one if you played a pre generated character from Basic Starter Set

On the campaign list it seems you have spots open, but reading the post, you might be a your maximum capacity. I'd still really like to know if there is a spot. I dont have D&D next experience, but i do have a lot of experience with 3.5 and Pathfinder.

A small introduction to determine if i fit the group: I am 38 years of age, living in the netherlands where i have played RPG's since i was 13. (Mostly D&D / Pathfinder) I am living in Arnhem with my wife and for work i manage a team in customer service for mobile telephony. Thursday gaming would be fine for me, i can keep the evening open as we make our own schedule and i usually work from 08:00 to 16:30. I am looking for a casual / fun gaming experience and i usually play upbeat / good aligned characters (and as i said, casters!) :D

So? Minor releases pretty much all play well with each other. I have several players that are on the "Live" release and it hasn't caused any problems.

You're lucky then - sooner or later running on a different version or release (live vs test) will cause an issue where there is an update in the app executable that changes things. Or, perhaps there have been little issues but you haven't noticed them? Yes, you might go 99 games out of 100 without noticing any problems, but in the end the recommendation will always be: run on the same version and release as the GM to avoid any *possibility* of issues.

Hey Hawkwind, check out the attached screenshot, you'll have to zoom in, it's the syntax to add the bless spell or other spells with an added die roll to effects window.

Which is

Bless;ATK:+1d4; SAVE:+1d4

if you had another spell that added to skill checks just add CHECK:+1d4 or whatever the die is. The 5e wiki effect threw me off because at the bottom it is wrong, it is separated by comma's instead of semicolon's. the screenshot I attached has the right syntax.

well about five minutes after telling every one that TS wasn't working for me the it started working, it was a google play issue , none of the apps I have every brought would work and wer showing a price sign next to them and i couldn't rebuy them, this was happening across two phones and one tablet. Any way after lots of mucking about with google play removing and updating it etc it resolved it self. next week I will have a back up head set for the pc..

Hey Hawk, I had a chance to look at it now, Korentin can put a Rage effect on his sheet with the code I pasted below. You can also add it to your DM effects if you wish but he can do his own effects from his character sheet.

Korentin's Rage effect (sorry if I misspelled the characters name)

Once Rage is dragged over from the library, Click the magnifying glass, delete the word unconscious and paste this
Rage;STR: 4; CON: 4; SAVE: 2 will,morale; AC: -2
If you don't see the effect line attached to the Rage, you can right click and add effect to it.

Once the effect is there, Korentin can drag it from his own sheet to himself in the combat tracker and he will have rage, when he rolls dice they will adjusted in chat. Alternatively you can drag it from your DM effects and put rage on him if you wish, same thing.

I can also do the same thing with bless and put it on my actions and drag it to other people so you don't need to worry about that also unless you want to build up your effects Library, this is the Bless code.

Hey Hawk, good catch on amending the Rage, didn't think to look at the changes in 5e with adv ect. As far as Reckless attack there's a little more to it, it's written like below, just copy and paste it in. Then in the box below it type 1 round. I'll be at this Thursday's game, cya then. ok we are on for tonight, Saul can't make it which a shame considering how much time has been spent sorting his character sheet out......I now have a new shiny DMG with lots of new options mainly around healing and resting which i don't propose to change, flanking rules are a bit of no brainer so they are in , I quite like the look of the weapon speed roll a new inititiative each round but only if we can largley automate it and i also like the lingering wounds rules but i'm sure none of you will. I also propose to allow players to award insperation to other players subject to a few restrictions because i'm always forgeting to award it

There were no rules or options for fumbling or charging which is something i may address in the new year oh and i quite like the near miss rule for non combat rolls whereyou miss by one or roll exactly you succeed but but bad stuff happens
