View Full Version : A few noobish questions

I have been playing through the ol' Kobold Hall with 6 characters to learn how FG3 works, using localhost for the most part but also a separate player-only licence. I have a few questions from the experience:

1. In the GM screen I can hover over a token and use the mouse wheel to change its facing. I cannot seem to change the facing of tokens at all in the player screens. Is this as-designed?
2. I am constantly doing subtraction when trying to work out how many HP the PCs and NPCs have remaining. Could a 'HP remaining' type of field be added as well as, or instead of, the current damage-taken fields? Just my opinion...
3. The CT is not very clear when a PC is dying or dead. NPCs get the delete button but PCs don't look any different in the CT unless you manually compare their HP against damage taken. Can some sort of flag be added to highlight when a PC is dying or dead? I use the option for allies to have a bar indicator but they only show on the tabletop.
4. One of the PCs died in Kobold Hall and was returned to Fallcrest where, for the exact value of the +1 War Mage Staff found, she was raised back to life. PHB p.311 describes a number of penalties to the PC for Raise Dead, most of which can easily be applied in the character sheet of FG3; all except the -1 to all ability checks. You can -1 to all the PC's abilities but that has other effects such as affecting FORT, REF and WILL, which Raise Dead should not affect. What can be done?

Overall, FG3 seems great for managing combat and other aspects of a 4E game and none of the questions above are major issues but just wondering...

Cheers

Change the red angry face to a green smiley face for the entry on the combat tracker (click twice on the red face) - this will allow players to interact with the linked token on the map (rotating, moving, etc). By default NPCs are hostile (red) and PCs are friendly (green) when you drag their records to the combat tracker.

Apply an effect to the PC: ABIL:-1 This will apply a -1 every time an ability check is rolled. More info on effects here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/4E_Effects

For 1. I wasn't clear in my description: I can't change the facing of PC tokens as a player.

If a token has been placed on the map from the combat tracker. players can only change the token facing if the linked combat tracker creature is tagged as "friendly". If a token has been added directly from the tokens window (i.e. the token is not linked to an entry in the combat tracker) then then PC can interact with the token (change its facing and move it).

Hmm. My PC tokens are dragged out of the CT and are all green (friendly). I must be screwing something up here...

Have you locked the tokens? (GM Right-clicked on any token and selected "Lock Tokens") This will prevent players changing facing on even friendly tokens.

You beat me by a minute! Yes, that's what it is. I lock the tokens so the GM can confirm moves first but that means they can't be rotated.

1. and 4. sorted - thanks!
