With Pibrac (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/member.php?25079-bzjeurd) who did all the coding and much more, we just relased the first beta version of the Pavillon Noir Reloaded ruleset. It's a French ruleset about a French game, so I won't do a lengthy pitch in English. But it was announced the second edition of the game might have an English version, so in a few months (years) some of you may very well be interested.
Pavillon Noir: la révolte (https://www.legrog.org/jeux/pavillon-noir/pavillon-noir-la-revolte-fr) (meaning Black Flag: the revolt) is a French rpg about pirates and corsairs, published in 2004 with a second edition coming in the next months. It's a very, very, very good game, covering about 3 centuries from the early new world colonizations to the end of the Golden Age of piracy, focusing on the Caribbeans. It's both realistic and somewhat heroic, and very historical (think Black Sails, not Pirates of the Caribbeans) but the way the world was seen at that time (so for example a single pistol shot will maim most people, yet it's quite possible to handle 20 swords wounds and 5 shots before going down as Black Beard did in real life, and so on). And yet, it's very fun. It has a somewhat heavy rule system, but once one get the gist of it it doesn't get in the way, and has from my personal experience for example the best experience system I have ever seen. And its full of background and detail about maritime life, ships, piracy (and the psycho and sociology of that movement) and so on.
The ruleset was written as layered from CoreRPG, and is quite heavy with a lot of automatisms (especially handling the complex test and skill system). It's (at least for now) unlicensed from the publisher, so it doesn't take things from the book, its free, and more than that its original content is under Creative Commons license.
For the French speaking people, I'll add a second post below in French with more details, including a screenshot…
