Adding Equipment?

Hi all,
How do I add equipment in the normal BRP ruleset? I am trying to drag it from the equipment list into the equipment tab but it doesn't work. The same with trying to drag it into the powers tab. I get the feeling the equipment list is reference only but here's hoping I'm missing something.

You can only drag powers to the powers tab - not surprisingly:

The equipment listed in the reference is only weapons and armour, therefore you must not drag them to the generic inventory tab but to the appropriate entries in the combat sectioin. Works for both PCs and NPCs.
