So is there anyone out there playing WFRP 3RD edition? I'm trying to get into playing this but it would seem that my regular group may not be interested. I love the star wars edge of the empire system and I know they both come from the same womb so I really want to give this a shot. If there is a GM out there that wouldn't mind running a one shot or a couple of sessions, I'd be way down to try. I already have the box set so I'm good to go in that regard, I just need to read up on the rules. Thanks all!

I'm kind of in the same boat as you, but I'd really like to try the Star Wars version more than the Warhammer version. Are either of these available for FG? I haven't seen them listed as available rule sets. But yeah, Fantasy Flight Games have been on a tear lately creating mechanically interesting RPG's, so I'd love to try it out. The Rogue Trader RPG sounds great too.

Edit: I hadn't looked through the forums in a while and it seems I was wrong about Star Wars. It looks like someone is making good progress toward a Star Wars rule set and module. Cool!

The ruleset is there and completely playable, the module is useful as well but will always be limited due to copyright.

Okay, this is probably the stupidest question you'll get this month.

Looking at the ruleset, I like it but I cannot get a portrait onto a character sheet. When I click the portraits button the window opens but it appears blank, as if there were no files in the folder. I've made sure I have PNGs in the portraits folder, not sure what's wrong. Is it possible that an update messed up that part of the ruleset?

First world problem, I know but is there's an easy solution...

A blank portraits window appears for me too. I've just tested on a FG 2.9.4 system and it worked OK, but not in FG 3.

Looking into it further, the problem seems to be with the sizelimits of the portraitselection_entry windowclass. This needs to have the <maximum> tag changed to <minimum>. i.e. in classes\utilities\portraits.xml the beginning of the windowclass definition for portraitselection_entry should be:

<windowclass name="portraitselection_entry">
<sizelimits>
<minimum>
<height>96</height>
<width>96</width>
</minimum>
</sizelimits>

Hi All.

Is anyone still looking for a game? Ransolot? Cade? Glacius? I've played and GM'ed WFRP 1st edition (albeit a long time ago). More recently I've got WFRP 3rd Edition and several expansions but short of me reading through them they've had little usage.

I've also got Fantasy Grounds, Map Tools, and a Roll20 account. Basically I have everything I need apart from the key ingredient. People.

I feel like the kid with a new football, full uniform and new boots. But no-one to play soccer with me.

Anyone with a game I can join? Though my preference would be WFRP any edition at this stage I'd be willing to play anything just to keep my hand in.

Failing that, does anyone fancy a game of soccer? :P

one of you is going to have to put their hand up to be the GM....

While I'd happily be prepared to have a go at GM'ing a game 'in the flesh' as it were. I think the virtual aspect (ie not having got my head around either fantasy grounds or maptools yet) is what would prevent me from 'putting up my hand' as it were. For example i've just purchased fantasy grounds via Steam but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to install the WFRP3 toolset which i've downloaded. Is this something to do with Steam? Or am I doing something wrong?

There is really no difference between installing from Steam or the FG website as far as community rulesets (extensions and modules too) are concerned. Follow the instructions here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Data_Files_Overview#Rulesets You get to the FG data folder by pressing the "FG App Data" folder icon in the top right of the FG launch screen.

the community rulesets need to be manually installed.
in windows explorer go to: %appdata%\fantasy grounds\rulesets (just type it in - it will work) and copy the ruleset there. you shoudl see other rulesets like 3.5.pak etc.
if successful next time you launch fantasy grounds and go to New Campaign you should see your new ruleset listed there.
have a look at these very quick videos for some tips on getting started as a GM - do not worry that they are Castles&Crusades - 94% of the stuff is generic - however it is written for CoreRPG rulesets and WFRP is not I dont think. Just as an FYI - the version available in the Wiki is not the most recent. Get the most recent (v1.5.1 at time of writing) and documentation from the author's site here: https://41fe5a1fc81e590f4e8940c19b657e9ea5d9a258.googledri ve.com/host/0B27SCDR38xFuNE96TGV4S1Jjdlk/fantasy-grounds-ii/warhammer-fantasy-roleplay-v3.html

Guys

Firstly thanks ever so much guys for your help. I'm impressed with not only the speediness of your responses and the thorough nature of them. However i'm still not having much luck. Trenloe when I click on the data folder nothing happens. I assume it's supposed to navigate me to the contents but it doesn't do anything.

I should probably point out that I'm running it on mac osx. Therefore the stuff about windows explorer obviously doesn't apply.

Again thanks for the help and apologies if i'm being a bit special needs with this but I really can't fathom it out.

hey noelyuk - please check the following post for the Open Folders fix - thats your best bet - then go back to the intructions earlier in this thread: Guide-Fix-FGII-v3-Open-Folder-Buttons-in-Wine (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?19737-Guide-Fix-FGII-v3-Open-Folder-Buttons-in-Wine&highlight=folder+wine)

No luck with that so far. My fantasy grounds is a steam version and so when I first installed. Steam chose the location and handled all the wine skin stuff. I can't seem to find the wineskin.app in order to follow the instructions listed in this thread https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?19737-Guide-Fix-FGII-v3-Open-Folder-Buttons-in-Wine&highlight=folder+wine. What am I doing wrong and can someone please point me in the right direction?? I'm on mac osx by the way.

I've emailed support so I guess I'll just play the waiting game which I might add is nowhere nearly as much fun as playing the game I really want to play lol

Okay Guys

So I've managed to install the ruleset. But have fallen at the very next hurdle. I noticed that there are fan created libraries and mods available e.g.

https://www.p-mi.com/prediger/roleplaying/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5

I have downloaded the WFRP libraries and mods and placed them in the application data/fantasy grounds/modules folder as described but in game when I go to the modules button (the open book) the modules and libraries in question are not listed. I've been fiddling with this for hours? What am I doing wrong?

**UPDATE**

It's ok. I've solved it. It was a file naming issue. Had downloaded multiple copies of the .pak file so the one I was using had autorenamed to WFRP v3(1).pak. Once I removed the "(1)" and renamed back to WFRP v3.pak it's working fine. Thanks for the help

I was trying to get a game together where I would GM (just to get a game going, it would be a learning experience for me) but real life gets in the way. If I can get a game going, I'll let this thread know

Sigh I hear you Ransalot.

Though I'd advise you to prioritize and let your gaming urges take precedent over real life 'which mostly sucks anyway' lol. No but seriously I'm also looking to get something off the ground either as player or (reluctant GM) so I guess let's keep each other posted.

Ransolot.

I've got someone else interested in doing something with us. I think he's in California too so their schedule would probably match yours. Let us know when LIFE isn't getting too much in the way and we can see if we can work out some mutually agreeable times.

Hey noelyuk the thing is I don't have the 4th edition. For what I read as well from 2nd to 4th there has been few additions so the 2nd edition is more appealing to me for the extra fluff and rules that already exists. Id really love to play 3rd cause of the dicepool system, I'm a huge fan. But if anyone wants I can play Wichever edition someone wants to GM.

Advertise a game and a rough time - if something looks like it's going to happen, you'll get a better idea of who is actually available at that time and probably attract some people when they see a game forming...

Depending what you're running (I've read a lot of the 3e stuff) and when, I could be interested...

It’s been ages since I played any Warhammer fantasy! If by chance the games get scheduled at a time I could attend, I’d love to join too!

Founded by the Ashcafenberg family of senior military positions in the province of Reikland, Fort Bresberg serves as a watch post for the Gisoreux Pass for almost a millennium. Located on the north plateaus, closer to the Pale Sisters giving it full view control of the Empire's lands to the west and receiving visitors from the mountains and Bretonnia. After the independence of the city of Merienberg from the imperial domain, which was the main sewer of the Empire, Emperor Karl Franz has made heavy investments in the Fort making it the new Imperial Customs for the lands to the east. Your adventures begin at late Autumn while the citys port get flooded by merchants who prep for voyage before winter...

25171

Sighilde Jürgens:
Daughter of a spice merchant in the southernmost province of the Empire, Wissenland. Siegehil, a strong girl who had taken part in her first trips with her father, found herself maturing rapidly as her father expanded his business through the Empire, leaving her to take care of her younger sister and her inferm mother. Sieghilde blames her father, who with the coming of success became indifferent to family, and was not present when her mother died. Angelica Jürgens became a Shalya priestess at the age of 15 becoming distant of her sister. Today at 21 Sieghilde, through contacts from her hometown Nuln, got an opportunity to escort a group of smaller nobles to the Moussilon province of the empire's neighboring feudal kingdom, Bretonnia. With the reward, Sieghilde hopes to start her own trade guild so she can unleash from her past, and relatives.

25172

Rugdan Gorekson:
Rugdan Gorekson a very charismatic dwarf, synce young was the attraction of the main barley halls of the Grey Mountains. Rugdan relished escaping from his studies in the circle of the Liedmen to visit taverns and travelers. There Rugdan heard of the most different adventures of the people of Karak Asgaraz and made a point of writing them down and passing through the neighboring halls. Like every dwarf of the Misty House Clan, Rugdan had an academic instruction in the annals and Books of Grudge as well as the standard military training of the Karaks. Now that he has finished his studies Rugdan aims to write his first article to be included in the libraries of the Grey Mountains and his target is the kingdom of Bretonnia little quoted in the texts of his kingdom despite the proximity of the nations.

25173

Alexei Strauss:
Alexei Strauss, a dark and distant man grew up in the slums of the capital of the Empire, Altdorf. Little is known about this tall, slender figure besides he did everything to get out of his condition in the lower strata of Reikland society. It is often seen sneaking through the alleys of the city behind, thieves, heretics, wives ...

So I can at least see if these even line up remotely. I am running Fantasy campaigns for long long time now. So depending on how you guys are situated timewise I might be off service for free ofc. Weekends would be my thing, pref on Sundays. I am GMT+1. I run 2nd and 4th atm i let 3rd go by me as the reviews were bad and quite frankly i generally find FFG not good cause they always add nonsensical stuff for selling you all kinds of stuff (specific dice, cards and whatnot).

I love Warhammer (the miniature game), but never found it's roleplaying material to my liking. I started reading this thread on a whim and it seems like an adventure in and of itself. Next time on LFG Warhammer- Our intrepid heroes continue their ceaseless quest to form a party! Will they get a group before Armageddon strikes?..... STAY TUNED! ;)
